Nice still life Dek! Is there a hidden meaning behind it? Or is it to show the relationship between the 2 twisty shapes?   The "dimmed down" effect in my apple blossom picture was achieved in Paint Shop Pro 9 using a free plugin called "Clarity" from Xero Graphics, which intensifies the details  and running a script called "Vignette" which tones down the outer edges. Sorry, but I can't locate the source of the script. These plugins and scripts are also compatible with Photoshop.

I don't mean to be a hog but bluegirl1 said something about getting closer. These pictures aren't as close as I've gotten in "another forum". The pictures below are unmodified macros taken with my "old" Sony Mavica FD100. It has only 1.2 MP as compared to the new 6, 7, 8, 10+ MP cameras of today. The FD100 allows you to place the lens as close as 1" to the subject in macro mode. Each of these flowers are only 1/2" to 3/4" in size. I did not use a tripod or steady the camera on anything,...just hand held.

Maizeydaze - Hidden meaning? Probably not. I was eating the pretzels we have in the office, and came across the heart shaped one, and decided to take 'heart Tangler pics'. It's just taken against the image I have up on the wall.

The two twisty shapes are just a coincidence, but good pick up!

Dek, thanks for the photography links! I'll have to check them out. I'm fairly new to Tangler and still trying to figure out the interface and how to maneuver around here.

A few of us came here via a link posted in the forums at Giveaway of the Day. I don't know if you're familiar with the site but if you like free commercial software and games it's a good place to go. They have a new title in each category everyday. The software/game developers give free licenses that are good from the time you download/install and until you either uninstall them or you PC crashes. But you must download, install and register within the allotted 24 hour time frame. We have a little side game in their forum called   What Is It?. People post a link to a closeup picture of item and other try to guess what it is. We've been having a blast with it.

I love nice photos. Some day I'll buy a 10 megapixel super-quality digital camera. 

This was taken with a crappy mobile phone camera. It is my youngest (he is known as Boof). He appears to be on top of the world, or Brisbane at least.

maizey is right about giveawayof the day, it's turning into a real social place. everyone is really friendly there, and there are a ton of resources. they are also very friendly for people from different countries and who speak different languages, although the majority is in english.

Wow..... forgot to resize it*, and the fact that it was taken on my 1.3mp cell phone doesn't help much, either...

Anyways, that is a 100% real picture. I took it after editing my cell phone's features (in some ways that might have voided the EULA).

Does look quite like a nuclear holocaust, doesn't it? You can also tell the vehicle's windows needed cleaning.

I did edit the colors a little. I don't know what you photographers think, but Shotwell (default in Ubuntu) does a decent job.
