    Hello.

For some reason, Tangler, isn't compatible with Opera Browser, though the last works just by the standards.

    Will it be fixed?

    Thanks.

Why is the title for this topic "OmniDrive on Opera Browser" when its about Tangler? Just curious, not trying to flame.

    2007-09-07 08:41:06.0

Might have been a copy and paste oversight, as he started a topic with that title in the Omnidrive group before this one

    2007-09-07 08:47:53.0

Which parts don't work?  Although I use Fx for Tangler because its Javascript engine is slightly better/faster, I've found that Tangler works in Opera.

    2007-09-07 10:00:05.0

I made a mistake with the title, how may I change it?

I tried today Opera. Found that Omnidrive doesn't work, and tried to post there. I found that I can't do posting at Tangler with Opera. I guess I didn't edit the title.

Anyhow, Opera freezes and clicking the "New Topic" gives nothing:).

BTW I found that JS engine of the Opera is much faster.

Drazick - you should see an edit button in the topic bar (right next to the Link to this Topic). Click on that and you can edit the title

Pistos, did you know that Firefox's Javascript engine is one of the slowest of all the browsers?

    2007-09-07 14:49:10.0

    Oooh, browser fight!

Just face it ... all browsers suck.  Considering the fact that none of the web standards have been updated in 6 years, wouldn't you think that we'd have perfect support for all of them by now? Undecided

    2007-09-08 04:59:41.0

Just face it ... all browsers suck.

    I'll give you that....

One less than the rest of the bunch though, imho ;)

    2007-09-08 05:04:44.0

    That's what everyone says. Wink

    2007-09-08 06:02:55.0

Well, most do at any rate...

    :)

    2007-09-08 06:03:50.0

heh, I think if you asked everyone what web browser they use, a large proportion would say "what's a web browser", or "I use Windows" or some other answer that demonstrates a lack of information on the subject :P

    2007-09-08 07:45:02.0

Yeah, I remember trying to help someone with a computer problem over IRC and I got the response "I use AOL".  I think I gave up there and then!

    2007-09-08 09:06:33.0

    And back to the subject:)

    2007-09-08 09:10:33.0

Hey, don't get me wrong, Opera is my primary browser.  But on certain sites, like weewar.com and tangler.com my particular incarnations of Opera don't fly fast enough.

    2007-09-08 17:10:11.0

I just wish everybody worked by the standards.

    2007-09-09 02:42:53.0

I'm in Opera now, and I do notice that not all the dropdowns can have their menu items clicked, such as Recent Activity.  But I also see that there are these various animation effects that I've never seen before.  :)

    Hi Guys,

    2007-09-12 14:02:19.0

We do intend to look at why Opera doesn't work, however we have had to put that on the backburner.  We are trying to get out features and fix some issues that we have, and while it may look like we don't care, we do.  We just have been concentrating on some of the more used browsers like IE and FF.  In terms of standards, we try to adhere to that as much as possible.  There are times where we might let something slip by but we try to fix things as quickly as possible.  The other problem is that we do use third party libraries which may or may not be fully compatible with all browsers.

    2007-09-12 14:08:44.0

    Phonga, thanks for the response.

I hope it will be resolved soon.

    2007-09-14 04:09:34.0

    Any update on that?

    Thanks.

    2007-10-18 16:12:37.0

Sorry Draz, we have not as yet resolved this.  We will post it up here as soon as we do.

    2007-10-18 18:36:34.0

Opera 9.50 seems to be on par with Firefox, speedwise.  (I just upgraded.)  I'll report any other issues I find, but everything seems okay so far.

    2007-11-22 12:56:45.0

Posts are not being marked as read for me in the weewar group.  When I click the topic, it clears in the sidebar, but when I come back to Tangler, or refresh (full HTTP hit) the topics come back as unread.  Hopefully this can be resolved (I'll do everything I can on my end, just let me know).

    2007-11-23 17:16:40.0

You should be able to reproduce this by logging in as me with the Opera browser.

    2007-11-23 17:17:08.0

Thanks for letting us know Pistos. We'll check it out

    2007-11-23 17:50:47.0

If I use the Mark All as Read link, then it properly clears the read status of the topics.  I can use that as a workaround.

    2007-11-24 11:45:14.0

Regarding this "read/unread" issue: I notice that my new forum does not suffer from the problem.  But all my other forums still have this problem.  Strange, eh?

    2008-03-17 19:27:46.0

    That it is...:-/

    2008-03-17 20:15:57.0

About that "browser fight" that was raging in september: I don't care if Firefox is the slowest of them all - if it does what I told it to do before I got a chance to tell it what to do next then I'm happy. And it does. :P

    2008-03-18 05:08:52.0

FWIW: I'm seeing the bug in my forum now.  Was good while it lasted, though...

    2008-03-18 06:14:42.0

Will pass that on to the devs

    2008-03-18 06:30:49.0

    Thanks.

    2008-03-18 07:00:26.0

Further notes on "not marked read".  A given topic will be marked read if I reply in it.  But the topics which I have read but not replied to do not get marked as read.

    2008-04-10 07:39:35.0

Heidi ho!  Another Opera bug report for you to file away in your Todo List Bin conveniently disguised as a trash can!

Linux, Opera 9.5.  Steps to reproduce:

    1) Go to any Tangler topic.

    2) Type any text into the editor.

    3) Highlight any part of the text.

    4) Copy to clipboard (use Ctrl-C, Option-C, or the context menu, or whatever you like).

    5) Paste; see the selected text pasted.

    6) Put something new in your clipboard from ANOTHER browser tab, or another application, or using your clipboard manager (such as Klipper in KDE).

    7) Try to paste into the Tangler editor.

    8) See the paste fail.  (that is, it pastes the text from step 4, not from step 6).

In other words, Tangler is trying to be clever and maintain its own clipboard (which I think is a big mistake from the start).  Yes, I understand you are trying to capture the italics, bold, embedded media, and all the rest of the 2.0 bells and whistles, so this would be tolerable if the above bug did not exist.  I notice that it is a non-issue in Firefox [2], so it _is_ possible to make it work.

Anyway, I thought I'd mention a workaround for the other Opera users who must suffer with this: If you disable Javascript temporarily (F12 to bring up the site options context menu), you get control of your clipboard back.  Once you're done pasting what you really want to paste, instead of what they think you want to paste, then you can put JS back in action, and proceed.

    2008-05-01 06:27:32.0

    Hey Pistos, thanks. Noted

The Opera to-do list isn't a trash can btw:)

    2008-05-01 06:32:21.0

Glad to hear it isn't. :)  But you can't deny it's low on your priority lists! :)

    2008-05-01 06:32:53.0

    Not denying it at all!

Admittedly it is, given it's one of the minority browsers used among our users

    2008-05-01 06:33:37.0

Yes, we Opera users are used to being pushed aside and neglected. :)  But I like to sometimes make our minority a rather vocal minority. :)

    2008-05-01 06:39:46.0

hehehe Judging by this topic, Opera peeps are the vocal majority!

But honestly, I really do feel your pain.

    2008-05-01 06:41:22.0

New Opera version: 9.50 beta 2.  The "not marking read" problem seems to be gone in this version.  Not 100% sure yet, but that seems to be the preliminary diagnosis.

    2008-05-13 05:52:24.0

    Oh really? *fingers crossed*

Lemme know how it goes please? Thanks!

    2008-05-13 19:05:08.0

Since I posted, it does indeed seem to be behaving.  :)  You may be able to scratch that ticket off your list...

    2008-05-13 21:01:33.0

    YAAAAAYYYY!!!!

    *mad happy dancing*
