Google have announced the addition of a presentation tool (competing with PowerPoint). Looks a lot like docs, so the big feature is collaboration.
10MB file limit!
I'd also have to wonder about how sophisticated the presentations can be (since they're in the browser). Does Google Presentations encourage boring presentations?
Google Presentation seems to be pretty boring. SlideRocket far outstrips this service in capability, not to mention that Google doesn't support exporting files into the PowerPoint format. I can only hope that they are anticipating releasing more features soon.
I can't see how Google presentations would improve on the metaphor over PowerPoint.... as Edward Tufte points out there is a whole cognitive style that goes with this form.... and it isn't good:

Having done a bit more looking, it seems (according to Information Week) that Google Presentations is meant to be a bit more democratic than the scene above:
"Google's approach to presentations is uniquely democratic. The software allows any group member to follow the presenter or to become the presenter with a single click. This obviously limits its use to groups of friends or non-hostile coworkers."
