So what happens?
Stuff.
I'm not saying anything until I have my forum design in order... be patient children.
It'll be a riot in here soon.
The forum is mine so I will give 500% more. Discuss.
No.
You're not saying you want some some kind of permission rights over Topic creation or Subscription?
Now I'll frame the discussion better.
Previously, Tangler was exclusively an aggregated discussion network consisting of thousands of forums. Anything I did chose to make was buried in the noise and was not really customisable to me. Now Tangler is anchored on the principle of being 'my forum'. The first thing I do when I join Tangler now is make a forum for myself. It feels like creating my first blog on Blogger. Now, because it is 'mine' I want to spend more time making it look good, inviting my friends, linking to it from my blog. Now I plan to start conversatios on Twitter and my blog and route them through to my forum.
Did anyone else perceive the change in relationship between you and the forum? Have you made your own?
@Marty: All sarcasm and negativity will be edited to say "I like to walk around Palo Alto with no clothes on."
I will walk around Palo Alto with no clothes on.
What about spontaneous forums? Can Tangler be used for that now? Like that Data Portability chat. Just quickly create a forum and start talking.
Registration is the issue. Not sure if OpenId would help much yet, but it might.
You know, registration is not the issue.... everyone signs up to a dozen different things constantly. If the feeling of wanting to use it is overwhelming enough, nothing will stop ya.
Of course, that doesn't mean I'll stop bitching about having to register!![]()
I'm saying if it's spontaneous and short lived, then the cost of signing up is higher.
Or look at it the other way - people who have registered for one spontaneous discussion could be more inclined to join another
That is definitely true, but takes time.
It would be idea to get over the registration hurdle, but that exists just for web comments... and indeed for twitter... so I think if people want to weigh into a break-out debate, Tangler will be very good for that. That is how I want to use it.
