It'll be your ISP that could record things, your IP is just a number assigned to your computer, often only temporarily. ![]()

Google have very powerful data mining tool at their disposal for linking keywords to websites to adverts, bringing people into that is a natural extension. On the other hand at least we know their doing stuff. Other providers are most likely doing the same things but not letting anyone know about it.
There was that thing a little while back where a bunch of search engines were subpoenaed for records of search terms entered, possibly linked to IP addresses. If I remember rightly, most of them handed it over but one (might have been Google... might not) made a fight out of it.
My view overall is that they're probably using whatever data they have for their own ends, but not in a sinister way, plus they'll defend it from anyone else who'd like to have a poke around in their data...

Dell to scale back customisation
Dell Inc., the personal-computer maker that pioneered selling custom-made machines directly to clients, is moving away from its build-to-order model to reduce costs.
Dell is limiting the degree to which buyers can dictate specifications while expanding its line of prepackaged models, operations chief Mike Cannon said Wednesday. Dell will also outsource more PC manufacturing to partners, he said.

What "to do list" software do you prefer?
I use AT Notes
Its not really intended for the purpose, but I make its virtual post-its really big then set them to be hidden until the point when I need reminding
If its something urgent, the alarm function can make the note flash blue and yellow until I click on it

Leave it for a really long time and see if it eventually does shut down.

When I first got Firefox I did a quick comparison against IE and found Firefox loaded things much quicker, add to that all its extensions and it's the only browser for SK ![]()

Windows users: Do you Standby or Hibernate?
I tend to use either one of them in place of turning off my laptop - so much easier to pick up where I left off, and a full reboot takes a while. I use standby if I'm going to be using it again shortly (e.g. when I want to pack up, go somewhere else, then resume), and hibernate for longer stretches.

Fake Steve Jobs is (maybe) being sued
He was offered money to shut down
But Apple got pissed that he made this public
Apple gets threatening, says they see at least 3 "actionable" posts
But his legal advice says they're full of crap, ball is back in Apple's court
