O.K. all of you anti-apple folks out there (I read the "iPhone is Holy?" thread and I know you're out there).

Are you willing to pay half the price (of an iPhone) to get a phone that is completely run by Open Source software?

The initial offering of this is for developers, the subsequent offering will be for the consumer.

    Phase 1: Official Developer Launch
We will sell the Neo device direct from openmoko.com. Sales and orders will be worldwide. We are specifically targeting open source community developers.

    Phase 2: Mass Market Sale
Online sales will continue. We will also be available in a retail stores and selected carriers around the world. At this point, we hope your mom and dad will want to buy a Neo, too. The next generation OpenMoko device will also be introduced at this time.

There is very thorough info about this phone and the project at their Wiki, too...

It 404'd me, too. (Well, actually the error page said "The connection has timed out: The server at http://www.openmoko.com is taking too long to respond.")

Site is working for me today.

There is also a very thorough site about this phone and the project at their Wiki

On another note, if there is going to be an iPhone killer it's going to be AT&T.  Seems those first iPhone bills are hitting mailboxes and account holders are getting double dipped for their old plan plus the added $20.00 iPhone plan.  Another reason to wait things out.  Story here: http://tinyurl.com/ypvexj

I would love to have that. I will wait for the Consumer version... which will come out in October...

    USB 1.1 isn't that a bit old school ?

    2007-08-23 03:05:02.0

    No.

Old school is two tin cans and a piece of string.

USB 2.0 is not neccessary unless you use it as a memory stick and constalty wipe and put back on all of it's files
