Google has finally added IMAP support to Gmail. This feature will allow you to view and manage "folders" (basically lables in Gmail) from email clients.
This is a huge story (I can now REALLY use my iPhone + Gmail to merge all of my email accounts into one, without ever having to check email on my computer). No longer will you have to check via POP and then RECHECK online if you want to keep the online interface clean, or send everything to archive.
Oh wow! That's great!!

The Next Version of Gmail Will Be Faster
The one thing I'm looking forward to:
* a new contact manager that will be shared with other Google apps (Google Docs, Google Calendar etc.)
I hope it's less of a pain than the one they currently have!
oooh... imap on the iphone is great. And I really like that video.
I really like what Google does with these tutorial videos. It's excellent for people like me, instead of stumbling around in the darkness or bugging someone
I find the gmail imap is a bit slow. I'm used to using imap off an Australian server, so it's a pain when it takes Outlook 2 mins to syncronise all of the gmail folders individually. I can't seem to unsubscribe from the folders either.
Yeah, I played with it a little as well, but in the end it was still too slow.
