It's ready for download, but they want developers and testers, so I guess I'm out.
Firefox 3 Beta 1 now available for download
Is anyone gonna test this? Is anyone already testing it?
Care to share? How's it going?
The "people" thing is added in yet. Otherwise, buttons and text boxes, etc. Look great, it's much "smoother" the look. Just as fast, if not faster than FF2.0.
Obviously themes, etc, are still adjusting so no custom themes. One issue though, Tangler isn't working properly with the drop-down boxes. I'm running the Linux version, which I compiled myself.
Oh bummer.
What about the memory issues?
What's the new bookmarks/history combo thing like?
(and can it be set back to it's current behaviour if I don't like it?
)
Oy! No guinea pig am I..however looking forward to the final product.
Have you used the beta techchick?
Only beta 1 though, so still some development to go.
Yeah.
Still, Web Worker Daily gives it a favourable review
Normally, I'd jump on this, but I've been pleasantly surprised with Flock 1.0
Hmmm... lot of positive reviews abt Flock today.![]()
The news I've been waiting for - Mozilla hopes to change that perception with this release, which is indeed slimmer and sleeker than its predecessors. It's an important milestone for Mozilla and shows that, though a bit late, Firefox 3 remains on track both in reducing memory usage and bringing some new, useful features to the table.
Woo hoo!!
So far FF3 beta memory hasn't been bad at all. Currently only using 53mb... and been browsing for over an hour. I won't notice the effects though. 2GB of RAM just got delivered![]()
Came across this link and thought it may be helpful
http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2007/11/firefox-3-add-o.html
Haven't read the link, but isn't it on that special "button"?
It's an add-on, but only usable with FF3.
kewl, checking out now.
Don't know if the engineers at Tangler have done anything, but FF3 works perfectly with it now. Horray!
Don't know if it's a new feature, but it's really easy to drag the tabs into any order you want. I love it.
Firefox always let you drag tabs around the tab bar, although sometimes it seems to demand too much accuracy on exactly where you drop the tab for it to actually do it.
What would be even better is if you could grab a tab and pull it out of the window, drop it on the desktop (or anywhere else outside the window) and have it expand out to a full new firefox window, so you could then switch tab on the original to look at both at once. Although the extension Duplicate Tab let's you do a similar thing, so I guess it's not urgent ![]()
That would look awesome with Compiz Fusion on Ubuntu.
what's compiz fusion?
Eye candy for Linux, all manner of shimmering and wobbling and translucency and transitions and jelly-windows and a big ol' desktop cube to spin around. Visual effects basically.. it makes for a desktop with style.
But it's actually a productivity booster for me, go to youtube and search for Compiz Fusion. Be amazed.
Release Candidate #2 is super stable and my main browser now, since I can get most extensions working on it. Still waiting for Adblock, greasemonkey and All-in-one sidebar to be updated to work with ff3 though..
I'm still waiting.... slightly impatiently
It's awesome! Love FF!
