After getting pretty fed up with Firefox memory and CPU issues I gave flock (1.0) a try, and you know what, it's pretty good. Some useful stuff (like a web clipboard and a cool media bar - drag pics from your desktop into the browser), a good RSS reader, a people bar which consolidates events from social media services and a good bookmark organizer.
But most of all, it doesn't crash, and it doesn't chew memory.
I'm in! I'll give it a whirl later today
Will my many Firefox extensions work in Flock?
...I am right in thinking that Flock is a fork from Firefox right?
It is a highly customized fork, so don't expect too many UI-heavy FF extensions to work in it (to my knowledge), but I find the browser pretty damn useful, overall. I actually never cared much for built-in RSS readers because I just use Google Reader. If Flock could integrate their reader to sync with an online one, that'd really be something, but otherwise, that's about the only feature I still use a website for.
Yeah, you're right about the reader FiZ. Still, the primary value for me is stability.
And super, I'm not using tons of plugins, but everything i do use works fine.
I was using flock on Ubuntu and Windows, and loving it on both platforms. The media bar is great, as well as the blog editor / web clipboard. Hell, everything's cool about it. I just don't like the current theme.
Otherwise, I'm happy that FF plugins mostly work!
