I dunno... I've been using gmail since the early betas and still haven't used up half the quota.  Cool though!

Actually, the thing is that I'm turning into an email hoarder.... I delete the obvious rubbish, but everything else stays

They just updated the calculation process, so it will reach 3.5 gb in ... 5 years...

3125MB: In 749 days

3270MB: In 1114 days

3560MB: In 1845 days 

thats just crazy storage

I use 67% of my 2.8Go... 

unless you hack your email for file storage there is no way you will fill up that can of storage on text alone

yep, I have a total of 6 pop accounts in my gmail, so I use to have about 40-50 emails a day for years and I still have heaps of room

Isn't there a program you can use so that your unused storage on Gmail becomes like a virtual drive or something?

I'm happy with GMAIL. I've got a yahoo account which I mainly use to sign up for stuff incase of spam

hmm.. thinking about it, all you need to do is attach whatever it is to an email and send it to yourself - no 3rd party program required

so that means there must be some kind of added bonus to using the extra software..... ? 

It ties into the OS - you  can use it like any other drive.

I'm not sure I understand - in the context of email directories are little more than arbitrary labels anyway.

Do you just prefer the hierarchical interface?

I'd like the option of creating folders and moving some mail to those folders....

Searching for mail can be a real pain, esp if you can't remember the specifics 

Sounds like labels with a different name.

I have all my mailing list email automatically labeled and archived.

How do you do that?

You can set up filters in gmail to do everything from label email to deleting it.

The filter can detect by content, source, etc. I think it can filter by attachment to.

So a new unread belonging to a label will show in that and not in the inbox?

That's my setup.

Ok, I did it... It still leaves my labelled and filtered stuff in the inbox. And it doesn't separate 'clumped' emails so that the labelled email will be extracted.

Am I expecting it to do things it isn't supposed to do? 

Did you check the 'skip the inbox' box? That seems to work for me.

ah fair enough..  that makes sense.. i guess if you have automatic labelling then itd make your view easier...  is there a way of showing only mails with certain labels on startup rather than all mails?

I hate that when it clumps mails together, I can't delete one without deleting them all!

I love the clumping together. How all those of a same topic are together. I hate hotmail and out look for not putting them together well. And how you hit 'reply' in sent mail and it goes to send the email to you... dumb!!

But when I have 10-20 mails put together, with multiple conversations in them, it gets really hard to keep track of.

And when there's some rubbish I have to wade thru to get to the stuff I want to keep in the first place, it infuriates me.

that sucks I suppose. I'm loving Google Office and Calender!
