I live in north central massachusetts and have an active toddler at home, so I can't travel long distances to connect with other writers. Is anyone else in the same boat? I would like to exchange writing and critiques with other serious writers, ideally in person, but perhaps vitually and/or with feedback by phone if need be. Anyone else interested in something like this?
Hi, Susan. I rarely get to Boston--live in CT, about 2.5 hours away. I have a 6-year-old and that is definitely a challenge with writing time! If the weather cooperates I will manage to get the Grub Street Lock In next weekend-- went last year and it is a real treat!
I work full time from home (as a medical writer) and write creatively whenever I can, primarily nonfiction but also taking a poetry class online. I am serous about my writing and am trying to build a fund so I can work part time or take the plunge and write creatively for a living.
If you'd like to try some online critiques, let me know! I've had some success with this approach in the past, at least in a limited way...
Katherine
Katherine,
Thanks for your message. Would love to exchange wok and critiques over the Internet, and possible do some periodic get-togethers in person, if logistics and schedules permit. I have relatives in Windsor, CT... Are you anywhere near there? Please feel free to email me at Literarysusan@yahoo.com to discuss things further.
Also, if there are other lurkers out there who want to support, critique, and learn from one another, please be in touch!
Susan
Hi Katherine and Susan:
I am in a similar situation and have been hoping to find people who would like to work online. I think it could work really well with some basic ground rules and commitment to 'meeting'. Let me know if you are looking for another.
Adeline
Hi, Adeline. I am always looking for ways to interact with other writers. Susan critiqued a piece for me and I hoping she will send me something also. What type of writing do you do? I write mostly essays and am now taking a poetry class online.
Maybe we can all get something going. My work schedule and child care responsibilities make it really hard to do anything in person, plus there just don't seem to be that many writers in my neck of the woods in CT!
Katherine
Adeline and Katherine,
I was having tech problems for a while, but I am able to communicate again! Would love to work out an arrangement for peer critiques.
Adeline, what kind of writing do you do? And what kind of feedback are you looking for?>
Susan
Susan: Glad your tech problems are solved!
IOU a critique :) so please send something if you have it and let me know what you are looking for. Maybe we will hear from Adeline and can get some kind of online group going.
K
What does this mean? How isolated? Are you looking for only online contact or in person contact?
Is this a working group or one that's trying to get started? I'm a fiction writer. short story and novel, living on the CT shore. I'm looking for a group to work with, trade critiques, offer suggestions etc. I have published a few poems in the past but I've been working at fiction for the past few years. I have experience writing and editing. Anyone interested?
Hi, "Mermaid". Your message caught my eye--I live in Deep River! Not too many Grub Street members on the CT shoreline, I don't write fiction, not yet anyway. Nonfiction and poetry. I also have experience editing. I am working on a book right now that a publisher in the UK is interested in. Here's my home e-mail:khauswirth@sbcglobal.net. Please drop me a line if you'd like.
Katherine
Hi I am a fiction writer and I want to connect with other serious fiction writers. I am writing my second novel now and would love to get some feedback
Hi KathyH, how did you find this UK publisher? Do you have a list of all UK publishers-i.e. small and medium size publishers who are interested in literary fiction.
Hi, Frindella (if you're still out there)--I'm a poet, living in the JP area...are you still looking for a group?
Sending ...
