The home page is a bit messy... To many words, and blue words on a gray background doesn't look too good

Actually, the gray background doesn't seem to suit the site at all..... it makes it seem dull and depressing, when this is/should be a vibrant place

I like the grey background. There is a fair bit of colour on there from the artwork created...

I would like the Register Now button to be a bit more... creative!  In the same font as the rest of the site... A blue link not so nice..

The flashing ad on the login page is a bit annoying..

These are all options on the preferences page in my profile. I have no idea what they are. That's a bit intimidating. 

I have unsuccessfully tried to load an avatar from my machine...

I have tried drawing on someone else's artwork and was happy with the first bit but not the second. I could not work out how to delete what I did not want. I have posted a qn in the chat box anyway asking for help.
