Friends,
Who's in for Burla? One of the best tournaments I've ever been to - I'm in the minority with that view, a lot regard it as the best! - it's 3 days playing ultimate on a stunning Italian beach
And the parties!
It's on the 19th-21st September.
So who's in?
I'm up for it, but I'm not sure about moolah, why not harass people about it at the wok party?
So, interested, but not gonna book til we're sure of a team. Is it mixed?
It's not strictly mixed but most teams in our division will be mixed, couple of female teams in there too.
Flights aren't too expensive at the moment. Player fee is €95 for guys. Wine is €5 for 3 litres. Woop!
Hefty player fee, but at least flights are going to be quite cheap. I'm in for it.
Im in just booked my flights
Thinking of paying Helen a visit in SwitzerFrance first and then getting a train across from there, if anyone's interested in coming.
David - that's actually a pretty tempting idea. How much does all that cost?
James, what flights did you book? How much?
GOING OUT
From Dublin (DUB) to Pisa (Florence) (PSA)
Thu, 18Sep08 Flight FR9908 Depart DUB at 19:40 and arrive PSA at 23:25
COMING BACK
From Pisa (Florence) (PSA) to Dublin (DUB)
Mon, 22Sep08 Flight FR9907 Depart PSA at 17:55 and arrive DUB at 19:40
and it was €160 total including a bag
Yo im in for burla as well. Was looking at flights and found the same ones as Glowzie so gonna book them as i find €160!!
God how i love Burla!!
If you haven't booked a flight yet you should look into bag sharing - get in contact with James and Heather and see if they'd be up for a share.
You probably don't need to bring one at all though. Don't need boots!
the return flight has gone down to €65
Nice work Sam. Looks like ryanair have a sale on so grab that price while you can. The flights are €122(no bag) at the moment which is damned good.
Recap on costs:
Flights €122
Player fee: €85 male, €70 female
Accommodation: Around €10 a night
Food and drink: Very, very cheap
who is going to this?? Definites and maybes??
List time!
In:
James1
Redmond
Stephen Mahon
Martin
James2
David Perry
Ben
Maybe:
Courtney, Heather, Darragh, Daragh, Finola, Sam
cliodhna's out
Ian: To head to Geneva first then across is about €169 in total (€55 for the flight to Geneva, €45 for a direct train to Pisa (far less expensive than directly to Viareggio) and €69 for a flight back from Pisa). It works out a bit cheaper to head to Geneva after the tournament and fly home from there- €147 (€53 to Pisa, €45 for the train (apparently) and €49 for the flight home). Not sure of transport costs between Pisa and Viareggio.
(Flights not including bags)
Also, Martin and Redmond are in.
I just booked my flight! So I'm definetly in
.
I can't go anymore, sorry guys, but I noticed how little money I have, and there's the whole problem of surviving college next year to consider as well.
have fun, tell me all about it
I most likely cant make this due to lack of money! Ill see what the situation is when i get back in september but for now count me out!
Ah Burla, how i shall miss thee!!
why are girls so much cheaper?
I enjoy reading posts out of context.
Do you mean why are the girls player fees cheaper? or why do girls have such low standards ?
The first question is because they want to encourage more women to play in div 2/3 because they're aimed at mixed and women's teams despite the tournament being open
For the second question maybe ask Heather, just kidding, but not really.
just booked my flights
I'll see you rubes on the beach

anyone who's going but hasnt got flights yet, better do it soon, they'll only go up
Daragh's right, most flights tend to just go up. On the rare occasion a flight goes down, it can be quite disastrous for the airline.
Actually Perry I've noticed from all the tournaments that I've flown to that they tend to start off low then go up and then at the last minute they go down again
Don't worry Perry, I got it. I lol-ed and everything.
but you obviously didn't get my post, once you do I'm sure you'll lol your ass off
Touché - I guess I'm just not used to looking for humour in your posts, Sam.
OK, topic: I have, for reasons too complicated and stupid to expand upon, two unusuable flights with Aer Lingus to Amsterdam this weekend. Seems like the logical thing to do is to switch them to Italy for this tournament here and essentially get €70 flights to Burla. So my question is this - is anyone else flying Aer Lingus? And if so, have they managed to find a cheaper route than my current plan, which is to fly into Bologna on the 18th and get two connecting trains to Viareggio, then get two connecting trains back to Milan on the 22nd to fly home?
I think everyone's flying with Ryanair. I'm taking it you're unable to get flights to Pisa and travel from there to Viareggio?
So how was it??
Well, I've stopped throwing up, so I'm gonna say good! Anyone wanna volunteer to do an actual report? Seeing as how none of the PR committee were actually there...?
I'll get a report written up fairly soon, I hope.
Sending ...
