Bailing/kicked players imbalance multiplayer games?
None of these maps is balanced to account for blue going first and gaining a first turn advantage. Red has the next best advantage and so on. Players that move first can get to strategic middle ground first. Here is an example of smearing out the advantages:

Blue goes first and can fill his bases with whatever units he wants, but blue won't get first pick of the non-base spaces. The later the player in the turn order the more units the player gets with better quality and the more they can reserve non-base spaces for later zerks. The map is also set up that the only way to freely step onto another player's base is if that other player chooses not to build on their base.

Pause function? (was - games take forever)
So I am clear that I understand the problem/solution... The desire is to get through a game quickly, then be able to take a break, then resume the game later, but to force players to stay-n-play while the game is being played quickly. The main problem being players that take too long, which is partially and mostly the problem of choosing the right players to play with.
Problems that are hard to identify until that first experience: The player is the type of player that is very into the game but then takes 3 day delays when he starts to lose sometimes hoping that the others will draw out of boredom. Players that don't understand the 5 minute time limit. Players who kick other after a few seconds of violation. and so on.
I'd suspect that the pause button fits your purposes and how you like to play the game. Then players will self select and there are back up processes in place (pause button) so one or more players doesn't get screwed by getting kicked.
I've thought about all this before and it is related to other problems that players have. Finding like minded players, but then that is what the preferred list is all about; easily keeping of them.
I've thought that players filling out a questionaire could be useful. They could say how often they play etc etc. But what is probably more useful is an automated system that tracks the number and times that players finish turns. So the first factor would be "When does this player finish their turns and list stats for day of the week and hour of the day. And the second factor is a bell curve of how many minutes does it take to finish their turn from the moment it is their turn in a list of groupings for under 5 minutes, upto 15 minutes, 16-30 minutes, 31-60 minutes, upto 3 hours, upto 6 hours, upto 12 hours, upto 1 day, more than 1 day. And break down both sets of stats for lifetime and for the past week or 3 so you can see overall what kind of player the person is and how often they play. The data collected would just be incremented counts per category.
If this data was searchable... i.e. find me a player like so and so who is also online when I am or when I will be... then it is easier to find people for the preferred list as well as finding the game when you aren't usually on or when no one else you usually play is online.

Maybe the easiest way to create a "map" contest is for weewar to keep stats on which maps get played the most, unless all we are creating is art.

Option to clear the game chat to reduce lag
Spadequack reminded me of something I never suggested to weewar. An option that once all players choose too (in a fashion similar to offering peace), that the game chat can be cleared to reduce the lag. I've had games where we've waited a good while for the chat lines to load.
Alternatively, It would also be nice to have the option to erase our own comments either singly or collectively.

Who can I contact to help resolve a situation. greedyalgorithm has been awol for a long time (~19 days) and even attempts at contacting the player outside of the game have not found him. Can someone from weewar go in and offer peace for him since a real world issue probably crept up and bit him? The games needing a peace offering from greedy are: 64396, 64604, 66819. There are probably others, but maybe they already booted him. Thanks

With global travel came the spread of invasive species, avian flu and of course humans (of all kinds). With the global reach of the internet we gain the wonderful experience of meeting people from across the spectrum from bright to not so bright and from cultured to not so cultured. Even in a city you occasionally run into folk you'd rather not have met. If you met them (bad language wee people) in person, you'd probably still rather not have met them. :-D

Maps 24166 and 24176 appeared in my maps collection when someone tried to copy my Stirling's Europe at War map (21211 map). I have since deleted 24166 and 24176 since it filled up my maps section. The errant copies appear when another person tries to copy the map, but it doesn't happen every time.
