I support allowing players as long as they need to start a turn, but once a piece is moved, is it logical to have a time limit in place that will end their turn if they've walked away from the computer without hitting 'end turn'?

i've forgotten to hit that button before, would probably be a good addition

    HEY!!! we can't have that!!!

I like to take my time!! and sometimes dinner or a snack helps me thinking about my next move....

I'm inclined to agree with Xiken on this one..  My job sometimes involves large stretches of slow desk-time wherein I can play Weewar, punctuated by sudden Very Important Things I have to go do immediately.  Several times I have been interrupted in the middle of a turn by work, and had to leave the turn for an hour or two before I can come back to it.  My work can punish me for playing on the job, but I'd rather the game did not!

I agree with matiss, a big appeal is being able to play the game while doing other things!

What if the game had a time out after you have finished all your moves in the case where you do forget to click 'end turn' ?

If it could detect the point at which no further moves are possible (after which point there's really no point in not ending your turn) give you an hour in case you get cold feet and want to come and undo/redo your last move, then move on to the next player, that would help in such situations, except that quite often you don't move/attack with every unit and build a unit at every base.

The tradeoff is between giving the system the power to end a turn when it's likely to be over, but hold onto our ability to not have it ended when we don't want to, I think a system that can intelligently predict whether or not more moves are forthcoming would be worth too much money for the AI controlling it to just put it into Weewar (instead of selling it to the highest bidder) whereas a dumb system that works on time or similar won't be able to be 100% effective and not end turns when they shouldn't be occasionally

    good point super!

need to just remember to hit that button!

Super-King: That's a good option but I'd rather not replace a lazy/forgetful habit with convenience. I think it works as it is, people get reprimanded and remember not to do such a thing next time.

If moderators could be recruited, then humans could arbitrate game issues, such as people disappearing, or forgetting their end turn, or whatever.  I suggested this in another thread.

Yeah... I don't want moderators or anything like that. I don't want that kind of control scheme and it just adds a whole 'nother level of overhead. And then there's fairness and all of this other stuff that goes along with it.

A game matching system should include what type of game, which can include what the settings are.  If this was made a setting you could seek it or exclude it while looking for a game.

The point of my suggestion about moderators is that we would be counting on the human beings to be much better at giving fair judgements than any computer system.  And the moderators would only be called upon to settle disputes; in cases where there is no dispute (i.e. all affected parties mutually agree on a settlement), there is no need for moderation.

I have a situation like Matiss where I like to try to sneak in a little bit of weewar here and there, but if someone comes to my office for help, I can't really have them wait while I finish the weewar turn. (especially the boss)B)

I should add... this is one of the things that attracted me to weewar and why I like turn based strategy games. I find this to be more of a challenge than an RTS game where the person with the fastest wrist can often times dominate.
