thank you so much for helping us test the latest Weewar built. You will receive an invite shortly to a completely empty Weewar on a separate server. There are no users set up so your current Weewar.com login will not work (nor will anybody else's) and any data you create during this test will NOT affect your real account.
There is quite a few changes in there, but the one area we are particularly keen on testing is around:
- setting up games (new pace setting)
- receiving and sending of invites (to new and to registered users)
- join game process
- accepting and declining of invites (also leaving games that have not started)
- surrendering
- winning / loosing
- removing inactive players
If you want to invite others make sure they are aware they are on a test system and that all the data will be erased eventually. Also do test game play proper but try to not get to much involved in any one game - there is no guarantee that you can finish it.
We fully expect things to go wrong - the important thing is to learn about it now so we can fix it. Ideally share your findings here: http://www.tangler.com/group/7466/topic/15352 but email will do as well of course.
Once we have learned enough about the above there might be time to share the unfinished new units with you, too.

actually the grammar errors are an oversite on my part. the lines are just reserved for future info i guess.
Some fields are just blank because the unit is not good or bad vs anything in particular. But suggestions are welcome if you think we should add information.
I am going to run some errands, so I won't be able to test until about 1:00 or so ![]()
i think the info box is great, but the terrain rollover should be similar to the unit rollover. maybe, bold the part that stays the same. i.e. "good for", "bad for", "off limits for".
Did anyone play arround with the invite process? Lets say ... invite 2 people ... one does not respond. Start game ... see what you or the 2nd player can do ? Things like that.
when i choose "1 hour" for the pace, on the next screen the it shows "1 day" towards the bottom. I'm not sure if my time is actually 1 hour and it's displaying as a mistake or if it always reverts back to 1 day.

I have to agree with SunTzu on the new inspector. It takes the whole depth out of the game that should be learned through playing the game. Maybe this new fandangled inspector can be turned on/off per game or have it turned off and have a checkbox that turns it on (maybe with the text "Turn on hints").

yeah, a switch to turn on/off hints would be great, plus it would more than likely keep those tubes unclogged.
Spottted when creatnig a game, the preview picture of the map select is shown as custom map but when you click off and on the name of the map you get the correct preview (default map appears to be three ways)
I also think the inspector fields shouldn't be left blank. Either make that particular field (best/weak/useless) with the blank not show up or fill it in with something.
Oh yeah, I do love the unit discriptions though. They rock.
Don't know if it is too late, but I would also like to be in on the testing.

hey, I was thinking with the new time limit stuff, there seems to be no way to see what the time limits are for a game in progress.
I imagine this could become an issue when there's a number of different games on the go with different time-restrictions per game.

first to surrender. not a big issue, but once in the archive, the game text says "You surrendered.mikeg won this game." missing a space before the winner's name.

how about alerting somehow on the top toolbar (HQ, Community, NewGame) when you have an invite, e.g. HQ(1) to show a new message you should go there for... could also use it to display the number of games you're in that are waiting for you to play?

We have been getting a lot of feedback here and via email, too. This was as much about testing a new/different way of testing as about the test itself. We are going to stop in a few moments to reflect on this. So brace yourself!

Hehe, very brief but fun nonetheless. I really love the new inspector and I think it should be used to a certain extent. But people also love the details and bars. If you could somehow mix both world it would be best. Too much detail and it seems too complicated, just text and it seems too simple. I think you would do well to mix both aspects.
where do I submit bugs on the normal game? my game 9565 is broke, all the enemy units are gone and I have all the bases, but it didn't end, and I can't watch replays of it either...

there were time limit settings you could set as host in the test, so...
10 min. - 1 hr. - 1 day - 2 days - 3 days. those were the options me thinks.

here's a trick for ya
go to the chat, select all the text, then paste into a text document
you'll see when people enter and exit a room and roughly how long they took their turn. you can somewhat gauge when everything happened.
oh, yeah. didn't see those in there. it would have been good to have those for sure.

I love best, weak, useless tags, it will definitely help new players understand how to utilize units. I don't think it takes away from the game, instead it places the emphasis on learning strategy, not what the units capabilities are. The stronger on, weaker on is helpful also, though maybe create a better visual space to hold this info - like Unit Specs with bold headers for terrain effects, unit abilities, etc. An option to hide is a good idea also as more experienced player will only refer to those occasionally.
Problems:
(1) Desert hexes don't have any info associated with them and don't seem to register as a terrain hex in the info are on the left hand side... Instead it gives intructions on how to inspect terrain and units

I agree with the tags that RoamingB mentioned, they are great. My only negative observaton is that the system allowed you to set the time limit for moving, but never displayed it on the game screen. Something like "Maximum time between moves for this game is:" Another idea would be to display the time the current user has to move. So if the game is a 10 minuet move limit it might have "User X has 8 minuets left to move." Overall great Weewar is a great concept and is moving in a very positive direction.
