I'm reporting Kabs and K3mbl3 for game abuse. They setup matches such as 4 way ffa or 3 way ffa games but they have a silent alliance and double team one person. They have cheated other players as well.
Here is an example of a current game they are playing: http://weewar.com/game/11808
Okay, I just watched the replay, and it is clear that they are in league. I don't think either side attacked the other even once. However, there aren't really any rules against such behaviour. If it helps them win, perhaps it is a superior strategy?
Same thing happen to me the other day. I played them a 3vs and took me out.
is this the begining of something huge? it may be time for me to join the wave. *whispers* does anyone want to form....an alliance!
Na really though that sucks man. C'mon guys, if you want to play a team up game, simple inform the players in the invite that this is a "Team Game".
I wouldn't mind playing a Team Game, as long as everyone knew in advance.
The game name is "Free 4 All" so I assumed this was a 4 way free for all. No mention of any kind of alliances were made prior or during the game. Things seemed fishy at round 4 when my 3 opponents started to ignore each other and focus their attacks on me so I decided to play full defense and watch what they do. I'm guessing they were pretending to fight each other until round 4 so I wouldn't be able to leave the game without losing points.
This is exactly what was said prior to the match in chat:
Yeah, secretly teaming up is not all that honourable. Team play should be predeclared; or better yet, built into the game. On the other hand, forming alliances is sort of part of war, and they have to finish the game somehow, whether by battling it out afterwards, or agreeing to a draw.
Well, if it wasn't already obvious enough from round 4 here's an update of how the match is going. It's clear that all 3 players are teamed together at this point.
Can something be done about this or do I just take the loss? If not then this is a warning to everyone to be careful when playing with Kabs, K3mbl3 and catcompz.
For all we know, it could be fewer than 3 human beings controlling those accounts.
Which would be pretty underhanded. ![]()
Again, it brings up the possibility of having a karma system, so we can at least have some advanced warning about dishonourable players.
they did it with me 2, and they dont even seam to bother:
I woudnt mind if its declared, it even gives good games but not 3v1, maybee 3v2 ....
I just stop making moves, but it upsets me a lot
I think its just one, cause only Kaps has some Points!
funny...I think we had a conversation on the chat about this a few weeks ago. I said it would be a great way to reach a 2000 rating if I had like 3 or 4 accounts and played myself, but these guys (or guy) is/are smarter...they play other people and gank 'em!
Well, it'd be more efficient to have a primary account, then keep making new suicide accounts for you to beat.
or just make one suicide account and drain out all it's points
although the gains per fake match would slowly diminish as the point balance shifted
Well, it would be kind of nice when you meet such a guy with 2k points 1v1, you would earn lots of points probably, without much effort. Playing 2 or more versus 1 kind of lowers your strategic capabilities I guess.
Anyway such abuses should be always well cared of by assigned people after reporting it. Maybe some -100 points and noob badge in the profile would do:p
From what I can guess in this game: http://weewar.com/game/11808
All 3 players are controlled by one person as they've all stopped talking after 3 days of play and the main account is blue. Judging from their records Kabs uses his 2 other dummy account to gang up on one opponent (3v1) and take his points. After that he surrenders his other 2 accounts feeding his main account Kabs even more.
They have similliar last login time, too, nice.
I dont know, but I'm sure Alex/Bert can verify that the other accounts are even players he has recruited. I've been on for several months now and only have 1 person recruited:( Kabs has onyl been here a couple off weeks and he has exactly 10 recruited, but he is only playing 2 games. ????
How many multi- accounts did you guys see?
I've found one very interesting.
Abuser: ymeynot45
trooper045
tank045
cupid045
athena045
hades045
zues045
I cannot imagine one can do this so obviously.
i love the misspelling of "zues". intelligent people, these, huh?
hahaha that looks pretty obvious...
I would never engage in one of these suicide accounts. That is just dumb and dishonerable. On the other hand, if there are rules for such actions, they should be clearly spelled out somewhere. When I first wanted to learn about the game, I created a second account and played one on one for many rounds, then had both sides declare a draw. This helped me learn about the gameplay a little without risking points. Should that be illegal? I didn't gain points from this. (you can see in my profile that I have a draw or two from this type of game testing and learning)
Also, is it illegal, or should it be illegal to message other players in the middle of a game to form alliances that are not announced publicly? This won't be provable in all cases.
Clearly there is a need for some guide lines.. We will look into this asap - however it might be a lot more useful if this comes from the community. Maybe you guys want to draft something up on the wiki? That way we can develop it further together before we turn it into fiexed rules.
In any case I would prefer for this to be guide lines rather than firm rules. If somebody wants to learn or understand better by using the same strategy as another player who wants to gain points we should be able to evaluate that differently.
anyway.. just a few thoughts.
I think the cheaters should be addressed first. Multi-Account Player. Alex/Bert, is there a way to limit the amount of accounts a person registers with from an IP. He/She may have multiple accounts but only one can be logged into while from a particular IP. If not, then we will have to base it on replay. I dont know how else to do it. Having multiple accounts to play against yourself should be legal, but having multiple accounts to beat an opponent is bad.
For a second there madmike I thought you we're saying that Alex/Bert was one of those multi-account players![]()
He he
I don't think it should be illegal for players to form alliances without publicly stating so. In some cases, it's not even sure those in the alliances know if they really are in an alliances or not. I'll give an example. The first game I've played on here was a 1v1v1v1 map. One of the players never showed up, so it ended up being a three-way, and an empty section of map. One other player secured the extra bases that the team who didn't show up was supposed to have, and started to dominate in unit numbers. Therefore, without the other player or myself saying anything, we stopped attacking each other and went strictly for the larger army, because we knew if we fought each other it'd be only a few turns until the larger team took one of us over. Now we have a chance at knocking them out, and then going at it ourselves.![]()
Divide and concquer ... that's just playing the game (and that one sounded like fun too). Alliances are part of war.
Here's an unfair example: the US and the UN team up against Al Qaeda and still can't win (WTF) ... that would be not cool by all the talk in this thread![]()
Madmike: I've said this before about IPs, don't try to ban them because multiple office workers might be playing and they will have the same IP. And at home, what if there are multiple computers hooked up to the Internet and they all want to play Weewar.
I really think that if people are playing Weewar for points, then that's their problem, they won't be that good and if you challenge them, I bet you they will show you their true face. Otherwise if Alex and Bert want to do something about that, they will have to ban those accounts or give them a warning.
I think we can hold a tournament for ymeynot45. ![]()
Today we have:
link045
kirby045
mario045
zelda045
Also, other brand new accounts without "045" sign that he is playing with are suspected to be dummy.
I wonder how many accounts that one e-mail address can register.![]()
hes using multiple email addresses
Ultimately, you won't be able to totally quash multi-account cheating. Perhaps the only significant thing we can do is start collecting a blacklist of dishonourable players, IPs and e-mail addresses (or e-mail ID numbers, to keep addresses private). That way, you can only accumulate so many dishonourable wins before you get added to the blacklist.
Having a list on the wiki would be alright, but if we could also list game replays as evidence, it would be good. But the problem is, we have an archive size limit. ![]()
I think a good start is not allowing multiple people from the same IP in the same game. For example, myself and my roommate have an account, and while it would be fun to play each other often, we'd sacrifice that to not get gamed in other matches. Perhaps allow it only if both players have Pro accounts. If only one person is controlling the accounts, then they aren't going to double their money just to gain an advantage, but if both myself and my roommate purchase Pro account, then we can play games together over the same IP. If that makes sense...
In addition to that, there needs to be some sort of complaint mechanism that covers this and potential future exploits. Have a team of moderators that reviews complaints and takes appropriate action. A karma system would not work, because the player can use his alternates to improve his rating (i.e. I make one negative vote, he can make two positive votes, and then neg me).
read the pro accounts section i was just talking about this with getting a pro account using IP address
I would strongly disagree with using ip address restrictions. First, it's easy to get around with proxies. Second, it punishes those that are not cheating to catch a small minority of people that are. There are better ways to manage cheating in online games. The devs will need to address it at some point. I would start by offering to return lost points to players if they can pinpoint an instance of cheating in a game. Patterns would be easy to see via replay. They same 3 users playing against a 4th and beating them everytime? That's a pattern.
I play from work. I've recruited 3 other coworkers that also play. We've played several games together and have played against others too. Every game we play is competitive against all the other players. We should not be punished because some yahoo wants to jack up his ranking.
I concur with Clowntrigger's points, and so think that IP blocking is not the way to go.
A karma system may or may not work, but there exists this thing called "trust metrics" (Google for it) that hedge against people abusing a karma system.
its not IP blocking its IP restricting so there can only be one account per IP
Again, you're punishing the innocent. We use a NAT firewall at work with 4 people that play weewar. That means all internal connections go out through a single ip address. This would present a problem for many business that uses a NAT firewall. Would you want to restrict your user base in this manner? You'd lose a lot of potential players.
1) I don't see any problem with forming secret alliances, but I generally don't accept invites to multi-player games because I don't know if they may be teaming against me. (Also, almost all multi-player games seem to start with someone having a huge advantage).
2) Anything based on IP is no good. I use NAT at home. My son and I play sometimes on two different computers that go through the same IP.
Speaking of alliances, I would like to see an in-game system to form alliances. That way you can work through ZOC, not target allies and have it listed publicly.
I'm currently in a 6 player game with 3 coworkers and 2 pickup players. One of the pickup players is rolling over us. No collusion here. We're just flat out getting our butts kicked. It all comes down to trust. There needs to be a trust system in place. Karma is a good place to start, but it will probably be a while before anything gets built into the system.
hey
so playing a 10 minute game and I got kick right when i was starting to make my moves. So not cool. I can understand the time limit was set to 10 minutes, but I was not even gone that long.
Sending ...
