Ok, I have 11 recruited and it hasn't upgraded my account? Just wondering... Also, it says you get the pro account for a month. Does this mean I need to recruit 10 people every month to keep my pro account? If so, is there a way to pay for those benefits for long-term? Thanks!
when did you recruit the 11?
It doesn't matter as it isn't automatized as far as I know. You need to inform the devs about it.
what if invites worked with the PC's IP address and worked based off views from different addresses that were referred by you, instead of every email address and having to finish a game for that referral point
I've recruited them over the past 2 weeks or so... How do I inform the devs?
The reason they can't do it off views alone is because it'd be too easy to game the system. Off the top of my head, I could log into proxies and visit the site, put a frame on my website to get "free" views from anyone visiting, or any number of ways. I think the "active recruit" model works well, but not for just one month Pro... I'd have to recruit 120 new active members per year to keep a pro membership; it was difficult enough to get 11.
exactly
pro should be challenging but not that challenging
maybe instead of views they just have to start a game instead of finishing it so if they dont like it you still get a point plus you get the point faster
Mathematically, it's impossible to get more than a few months for free, assuming that 100 or more people are all trying to do it. Just like pyramid schemes, it dies out on the 3rd level or so, when you've reached your total market.
Right now let's say there are 100 pro accounts. If each of those invite 10 more people, you have 1000 in the first month. Let's say 10% of those want pro accounts. Now, you have 2000 more invited. Assuming the total upper bound of potential WeeWar players is 5 million, which is a generous number, this will really only last a few months more before it fizzles out. As an example, I've invited around 40 people, 11 of which have completed a game. With those statistics, we run out of the ability to maintain a pro account for very long at all, even if you resort to spamming your referral link.
good point i know this referral system is only temporary anyways, later the devs plan on making people pay for it
so how to inform the devs?
write topic on tangler "I invited 10 players and demand pro account or else I'll start hacking others' accounts", write to them via the blog/feedback, whatever. I think the devs are humans, too.:>
I, for one, welcome our new dev overlords.
I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of system where we could nominate other players for pro accounts, since they're not being paid for for the time being anyways. For example, when luckymustard's month runs out I'm sure just about everyone would want to nominate him for a pro account so that he could keep building all those awesome maps.
+1 ![]()
I think it would be fitting to give the top ten players of each month a pro account, but others may not agree with that proposal
It would be fitting, but it would also, well....not encourage, but probably lead to unethical behavior being used to get into the top 10.
good point, but i think that somehow people should be rewarded for being good at this game other than just having a large number beside their name
i have number envy ![]()
lol, I used to until i got a better rating![]()
hey devs, how about giving a pro account holder a balanced choice of the number of invites to games they can give out versus the number of maps they can edit?
for instance, in the current system you can start 10 games and have 3 maps. that equals 13. what if instead of 10 and 3, you gave me the choice of me coming up with any combination that adds up to 13. so if i had 9 games going that would allow me to create a 4th map. 8 games, 5 maps. 7 games, 6 maps, and so on...
Can there be an option to turn on or off pro account units on maps? These pro units are great but sometimes having hover crafts on some of the old maps really throws off the balance of that map.
Agreed. If we could get a choice of available units (fine grain), or even just a choice of unit sets (coarse grain), such as old school vs. new school, etc... that would be nice.
+1 to Pistos Suggestion
Whut is this about map editing for Pro accounts?
map editing is currently available. the devs hopefully will bring it back soon.
I'm assuming ^ that's "unavailable"
lol... you're correct. i've had a rough week/weekend.
