SunTzu and I are teaming up and ready to take on challengers.  If you want to play, please state your time zone and availability to play, in addition to any maps you would be willing to try.

    2007-08-07 13:39:19.0

I'll play a team up with you. I'm CST and like big maps. If moJoe is up for it, I'd like him for a team mate. But if someone else wants in that's cool...just pull your weight.:) We are playing against two 1600+ players.

    2007-08-07 17:27:48.0

    Gosh! This is getting exciting!

    2007-08-07 18:44:42.0

Hi, i am also interested. Laughing

    2007-08-07 22:55:46.0

Is there a possibility to play 2 V 2? How can I do that?

    Thanks...

    2007-08-08 02:51:51.0

Draz, not sure what you're asking, but I'll do my best...

    - you need to find another player who you trust who wants to play a team game with you.

    - then leave a message with the WW handle of yourself and your team-mate, and your respective time zones and schedule for available play.

    - then pray.

    WarMech, I didn't get you.

I meant if it's possible to play a team game. Let's say I and another player (Blue and Purple for that matter) play against two other players (Red and Orange). There is a wining team which would be the last to survive (Either the whole team or one of its players). If it's possible how?

If it's not, it should be:)

    2007-08-08 11:23:01.0

    just an FYI to everyone

SunTzu's time zone is CDT (GMT -5:00) and his availability is 9-5pm m-f

My time zone is PDT  (GMT -7:00) and my availability is...  variable.

    Draz,

The way I was thinking is that one of the players, let's say Sun, would start the game on an agreed-upon map and invite one of the opposing players.  Then after the opponent accepts he would invite his teammate, and then invite the other opponent, so that no one team gets two turns in a row.

During the match there are things to consider, such as your team-mates ZOC interfering with your own, to deal with, but this can be handled by trying to stay out of each others area of conflict.

If Sun and I win the battle by forcing both our opponents to surrender or wiping them out completely, we would then call peace with each other.

If Sun and I lose... then it's up to the opposing team whether or not to fight it out between them or call peace.

say blue and purple win in your above situation, meaning they defeat (destroy all the other colors units and capture all of their bases).  then blue and purple call a draw.  they've each received the points when the previous two were defeated and no points are counted against the two remaining when draw is called.  one of the two remaining could have a lot more units and bases compared to the other one.  that's where warmech's "trust" comes into play.  there is no in game system... yet.

    right on the money, Mustard

    2007-08-08 11:56:58.0

<kind of a bump>  Does anyone got any teams ready?  Anyone want to pair up with someone here?

    2007-08-09 10:32:53.0

Casein and me (jeye) would like to fight a team battle against WarMech and SunTzu. However we should check if we have suitable online times to play. ^^

    2007-08-09 22:58:33.0

yeah, ask Casein what times he usually plays and what his time zone is and then leave a message here with your respective info.  Maybe we can get one going monday

    2007-08-10 10:35:10.0

    in Casein's profile it says:

    Hong Kong.
    Weekdays: GMT1200 - 1800
    Holidays: Depends

I normally can play with Casein without problems and WarMech we 2 also managed to play. Since you, WarMech can probably play with Suntzu games I think we will manage with the time.

I suggest Suntzu invites since he has a pro account.

    Which map shall we play?

    2007-08-10 14:01:36.0

cool, I think I'll have him invite both of you monday since weekends are always sketchy, and it will give us time to decide which map.

If you can, give Casein a heads up on the invite for monday so he expects it.

What I will do is have Sun start the game, then invite you (jeye), then invite me, then invite Casein.  This way will be fair in terms of not having both teams go on consecutive terms.

I'll talk to Sun about maps

    2007-08-10 14:09:06.0

starting on monday is not to good for me since I might be away from wednesday to sunday and can only play occasionally from internet cafes. i would therefore prefer to start this weekend and finish on tuesday

    2007-08-10 23:03:20.0

jeye: well, let's just start the next week, then

    2007-08-11 16:20:42.0

I've just cleared out some games and I'd like to do a 2v2, 2v2v2 or 3v3 game. If you're interested, let me know. GMT-5.

    2007-08-13 12:53:40.0

Clown, good maps I think will work are:

City Sprawl, Islanders, Zwestromland, Thermopylae, Junbrunnen, Spiral, and Narrow Path

    2007-08-13 13:17:51.0

all kinds of action in this thread. you hearin this devs? Tongue out

    we want team play!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

    2007-08-13 13:18:18.0

    We are all-hearing and all-seeing!:)

    2007-08-13 13:21:15.0

    +1 for team play! :)

    2007-08-13 17:38:46.0

I think an official rule-set for team play would be very time-consuming for the dev's to program and I don't expect it anytime soon.  However....

One thing that I would ask the dev's is if it would be possible to implement a check-box in the New Game menu to activate or de-activate ZOC rules.  To me the ZOC issue, right now, is the biggest issue with team play.  Second on the list would be the inability to choose your colours.

I've said it before and I'll say it again now, I know it's easy to talk about new features when you aren't the one doing the time-consuming work, but I'd like a bit of feedback on how easy/difficult it would be to put such options into effect.

    2007-08-13 18:05:43.0

Hey devs, time to implement that -1 attack vector for SunTzu...Just in time for my next game!

    2007-08-13 18:38:15.0

We have been toying with the idea of offering some advanced options in the game start dialogue. This was mostly along the lines of turning pro units on and off, maybe totally control which units can be used in a given game and such things. I can not tell how much effort it would be to make ZOC optional as that would require to apply different game mechanics on a game by game basis.. but it sounds like a real good thing to have and we'll look into it!

    2007-08-14 03:57:37.0

looking forward to the invite, then;)

    2007-08-14 04:00:42.0

cool, thanks for getting back to us on that, Alex.

    2007-08-14 11:21:47.0

    waiting for the invite then

    2007-08-19 11:14:42.0

I'll let Sun know when I get in touch with him next

    2007-08-20 13:32:11.0

jeye, I talked to Sun and we're trying to figure out what map to play.  From before, I like: City Sprawl, Islanders, Zwestromland, Thermopylae, Junbrunnen, Spiral, and Narrow Path

    2007-08-20 21:11:55.0

if you like any of those let me know

    2007-08-20 21:12:08.0

I didn't talk to Casein about maps yet, but I personally like Spiral and City Sprawl. Islanders, Zweistromland and Narrow Path are also ok for me. I don't like to play Thermophylae and Jungbrunnen.

I will try to get back at Casein and ask him about it and Casein or I will post in this thread again.

    2007-08-21 02:45:00.0

personally, I think Spiral would be the most interesting game for teams, I'll pass it on to Sun

    2007-08-21 02:47:46.0

i talked with Casein and Spiral is ok. We are expecting an invitation, soon.;)
