i remember a discussion about transports, but I just did a search and couldn't find it. nonetheless, what prompted my looking for that was that I had a brainstorm of being able to get ones trooper units from one island to another via a bridge. specifically, i was looking at an opponent's troopers on one piece of land, then two hexes width of water between that land mass and an island and i wondered if he would/could get those troopers to the island via the water units that he happened to have between the two land masses. that made me think that the general way that might be doable in the game code is to give players the ability to, during gameplay, change terrain. so devs, if you have thought of something like that before or not, i would, without any gaming developing experience
, have to think that if it's possible to allow players to change terrain in game, then it should also be possible to transport. either way, these were just some kinda off the wall ideas i just had and i wanted to share.
Being able to construct things like small fortifications, trenches, barricades, etc would be rather cool to test. Bridges too. Maybe even dams!
Then opening the dam when the enemy was trying to pass through.
(Red Sea, anyone?)
we'll have to start calling you Moses then![]()
+1 for Weewar Fun Mode (aka lucky and Pistos' ideas)
One of my terrain mocks included, walls and defense towers. Walls would be pre-displayed via map editor on a map. Walls would just have a defense value, and can be attack by all units. You will need to destroy the wall to continue to the neighboring tile. Defense towers are stationary units that can be built via your base and can only be place up to two hexes away from said base. They would only have a range of 1 or maybe 2, it would depend on the attack/defense rating.
Terrain that attacks would essentially be units with 0 movement points. And maybe even walls could be units with 0 movement and 0 attack, but some defense.
the more features we add, the more we need better (and more) maps
Kurisu: Agreed. This should come with sufficient time. Hopefully sooner rather than later. ![]()
Good things take time. Who knows, maybe the devs will surprise us with a PERFECT map editor, map selection menu and map settings in exactly 4 months
I can't wait for that christmas present![]()
The idea for an engineer unit has been around for a while, so I'm sure that the devs are thinking about it!
Another feature that might be fun is roads. Anyone remember/play Bolo? Not a hex game, but it had tanks along with captureable bases and pillboxes(turrets), as well as mines and roads. Fun stuff.
bolo, the hotness I remember. Poppin' fresh pillbox action.
