hi all!
im just creating a new stats table where ALL weewar unit /terrain stats will be easy viewable
there is allready a first version online (more units will come of course)
take a look here: WeeWar Stats (edit: new page http://weewar.derblub.com )
im looking forward for any suggestions and comments! ![]()
btw. WEEWAR ROCKS!!
mouseover should work on the unit images not their names
working allready on this
- going to make the whole "unit-area" hoover-able
great
one thing in case you hadn't noticed, the terrain effects on attack for the heavy trooper aren't in bold
just a nitpick though - this looks like it could be very useful
oh, didnt noticed - thx, going to change this tomorrow, have to go to sleep now..
thx for all reviews!
This looks like a great start, blub. Good job. ![]()
Very pretty. An outcome matrix would be extremely useful.
thx![]()
i have done a lot of stuff now - everything is php now, and i have an extra config-file where i can easy write down all unit stats, without editing something else - extremely useful when stats change in future
btw - i need an good background picture - somebody know where to find one?
i have "stolen" mine from plasticshores flickr page for now
(one like the tangler background would be great)
more units will come very soon!
btw2 what do you mean with outcome matrix?
I'm thinking an outcome matrix would be so you can select "unit x with y health on terrain z attacks unit a with b health on terrain c" and it produces what the damage report is likely to be, or the range of possible outcomes, or something helpful of that nature
ah! ok, thats, easy - i will add this to the too do list! great idea
Found one other problem - the stats box that appears on mouseover goes off the bottom of my screen, temporarily extending the page length to fit it in, as soon as I try to scroll down my cursor moves off the unit name and the box disappears, restoring the page to its original length and making it impossible to scroll down further
(Screen res of 1024x768 in Firefox)
If I turn off all my toolbars I can see it all at once, but once the basic navigation toolbar is on it starts going off the bottom a bit
fixed
Close enugh, S.K.
Infantry should get +2 defense in cities and +4 defense in mountains.
hmm.. allright - got my stats from weewar.info ![]()
basic units are all finished now - please let me know if other stats are wrong too
I was wondering why you were doing this. No offense its great effort, and it does simplify the information. I would recommend that if you plan to show stats they should not be in a popup. For some reason I though you were build a proof of concept for the weewar interface. Anyways, correct stats for weewar units can be found here http://weewar.com/specifications.
Yeah, the Wiki is a little out of date. The page madmike mentioned has the latest info that I know of.
thx for the link - in future i will get my stats from there
im doing this because i like weewar very much and all stat-pages which i saw till yet where not really clearly enough. i think with the popups its the fastest and user-friendliest way to take a quick look on some units
btw - im thinking allready about a weewar-compendium ![]()
I'm with Slugthog and Super-King - an output matrix would be awesome. There's a separate conversation going on over in 'Weewar specs' trying to understand the combat mechanics if you want to go take a look. We've got the basics down, but there are some unresolved questions about the distribution of possible outcomes and the effect of surrounding units that still need to be answered.
sounds interesting! i will take a look to the topic! going to need those infos later - thx!
Popups require a user interaction to see. The format of the content in the popup is good. I recommend you get rid of the popup, and display the info table along side the units. Then When someone rolls over the unit the content changes. You could lay out all the units vertically and the info box to the right or left of them.
sounds good! i will make a version without popups - i like the idea!
... but now its bed-time again
@blub: You appear to have neglected to include terrain effects on unit movement.
The mouseover popups don't close when I move the mouse off of them. An annoyance that is.
uhh.. you have a lot of the vehicle pictures wrong - across the top it says Tank // Heavy Tank // Light Artillery // Heavy Artillery, and the stats displayed match up with this, but you have pictures for Assault Artillery // Tank // Heavy Tank // Beserker.
^^that post took several tries to send, this post-dropping thing (I mentioned it in "New Map Requests" too) is getting very annoying
Super-King: Bring it up in the Tangler Feedback group.
ok, I'll head over there now I guess ![]()
(you're right, Weewar group is the wrong place)
Hey - I completely missed out on this. Great job! I actually like the scaled graphics - gives our pixel design a somewhat rough look. I like! If you are still looking for a background try this: http://blog.weewar.com/images/weewar_tile.png (tiles on both directions)
It might be helpful to add the unit stats to the API to allow projects like this always reflect the latest? Would there be interest?
Last but not least - have you added a link to this to the wiki already? Nice job.
Having the specs available via API would be nice, but it's still parsable from /specifications.
I don't know if it didn't post or if it got erased for some reason... here's my little guide. Only deals with terrain effects, but I've found it useful as a newbie.
thx for all responses!
im working allready on a new version of this - with fixed position of the popup where only the stats change - quite everything allready finished but a few flaws - when i checked them it will be available on this adress: http://weewar.derblub.com (it is allready but not working correctly)
keep it up, soon im finished and going to add the dmg- calculator![]()
thx for the tiled background! now i dont have to do this by my own![]()
Another probe at the image mis-placement for "unit A image" being matched with "unit C name" >_< It is a minor thing but any new people reading it will be flunked-out-confussed XD
allright, i think 1 day more work and im going to finish it!
@alex: i think it would be very helpfull if you add the unit-stats to the api - so i dont have to worry updating the config file![]()
going to add the link to the wiki now
pretty cool! API request is noted. I look forward to adding your page to the tools section, soon.
btw - does allready someone know how the math is done for dmg. calculation on attacking/defending? didnt got time to read the related topic yet
blub: There's no escape: read the thread.
Long story short: Only the devs know for sure.
aaalright - then im going to climb that hill today :p - (btw - if any dev is reading this, it would help me alot if they could tell me the calculation
)
Good luck with that, its a hot issue and there seems to be a lot of complications in the calculation process
Would be hella useful if we could have the entire process properly explained (devs must have written code for it, computers don't do anything besides what's in the code, hence the devs must know what happens behind the scenes)
or if Pistos' data-examining method yielded something (even if only some stats on unit vs unit damage results, without managing to extract the formulae behind it). Although the number of different combinations of units and terrains, and some more unknown effects like the benefit of a unit being supported by other units could make it difficult to get a full picture by experimentation
version 1.0 online!
status: usable!
![]()
status: usable!
sorry, not its not
I entered something to each box and clicked the equals button (not totally obvious that that's a button btw) and it just reset the boxes to their default values.
and in the terrain box, where's the entry for grass/plains? and what's "shop", the repair tile?
like what you did with the rest of the page though - the stats box staying in one place is good
usable was for the stats part of the page ;p - since i dont know the math yet, this will take some time to go..
shop is for repair-shop - i changed it to repair - and yes - i forgot plains :p thx
ahh, ok
yes, the main part of the page is very much usable
one other thing with the dmg calculator, there's the return damage to the attacker to calculate as well
wow.. already added in the grass option, that was fast ![]()
oh yes, i forgot![]()
^^ yes, im fast ( when i got spare time)
I was able to reach the site once , but now am unable to.
Browser (Safari) gives me this:
Safari can’t open the page “http://weewar.derblub.com/”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
Not sure if site is being worked on or if this is another Safari<--->weewar glitch.
thx for reporting - going to check it on safari now (what safari/osx version do you use?)
edit:
checked:
Safari 1.2
Macintosh OSX 10.3 no errors
checked:
Safari 1.3
Macintosh OSX 10.3 no errors
checked:
Safari 2.0
Macintosh OSX 10.4 no errors
so everything (but the calculator) should work flawless - can you specify your problem?
maybe clearing the browser-cash helps
Cant explain it either. I have the most recent everything as I am playing on one of the new iMac's. Also now the link works. For a while there I was receiving the error message that I included above.
Now it works though so that is good.
I do find i have strange occurances in game , with the chat window posting double messages, not refreshing (having to refresh the page manually) and such things. I am not sure if that is a safari thing or what.
Thanks for your efforts btw!
that sounds like a browser problem - i recomend you to use firefox browser - there is a osx version too![]()
we had some server issues today. should be ok now, but that might have caused the double posts...
Are you using the Safari beta?
No its no longer beta. I have: Version 2.0.4 (419.3)
Yes I was noticing others with the double post issues today (echo we called them)
