Red and Blue make sense. They are both bold, and well depicted colours.

The Yellow is also not bad. But the Violet bugs me.

It is too light. The purple looks very similar to the light grey bases/buildings and it's not my monitor which needs adjusting! After the intial update, for a day or 2 the purple was a lot darker and, well, more purple and less violet. It was easier to see, and depict against the grey zones on the map (so you could tell it was either a purple base or a redundant one). And now it's changed back. Why...? It was better darker!

Being a Basic account member, i do not know what the colours of the 5th and 6th teams are, but are they just as bad or fine the way they are? Would it be possible to request either a colour change or contrast adjustment for the violet colour so all the units of different teams look extremely varied from one-to-the-other?

I think letting people pick an RGB hex value would be neat. :)  Then the players can agree on the colours before starting, in case some are too close.  But this colour stuff has been discussed in the past.

In traditional board games the colors are usually red, blue, yellow and green.  For six player games black & white  or mauve (or  lavender) & brown (or orange) are added

i think green is a color when you have 6 players... let me go check

    ahhh, error in map editor

i checked one of the 6p maps when starting a new game, and one of the colors is green.  it's a little lighter and less saturated than the other green that makes up most maps - the Terrain hex.

Blue, Red, Purple, Yellow, Green, White are the colors in weewar. This list is also the player order(blue = player 1, red= player 2,etc...).

I only knew what the 1st 4 were so thankyou for the info on Green and White as 5th & 6th ^_^

I hope the white is really... erm, white! The green by the the sounds of it is ok as it doesn't seem to be close to any other colours or base hexes. So why is it purple has to be so saturated (i'm gonna steal that word now!) and bland, making it come so close to colour against all the bases?

I'm in a 3 way game, and red has been kicked, so it's just me in blue and my opponent in purple. Hes hovered over 2 non-captured bases in the corners with vechiles so he can get infantry safe there later. But it's so hard to tell if the base underneath is grey or purple. I'm aware it hasn't been captured yet, but if it wasn't for that knowlege which i knew before hand, i would have to squint to see its difference (and i'm not blind nor is my monitor dodgy!)

The issue reminds me that the inspector only shows unit info when you hover over a unit.  In this fashion, a unit can "cover" a terrain (such as a base, harbour or airfield) and sometimes I am uncertain what the terrain is by visual inspection.  I wish the inspector could also show, even if just in 7 measley characters, what the terrain is, too.

Ouch... Both the white and purple are horrible contrasting colours against the bases and eachother.

Excelent point Pistos, but i don't know what kind of coding or proceses need to be made in order to show team-bases over non-captured ones; especially as they can change quite a few times during battle. Probably not a lot but i don't know much about creating code >_x

I totally second the idea of players choosing their colors - or at least the game creator.

it would be sick to have black units, ha or periwinkle, perhaps?  - whatever your fancy.

ok, i guess to a degree - there are separate image assets for each unit, right?

    2007-09-06 19:08:18.0

yes, they are all png files. So if a player chooses colors it would be from an available pre-made sets.

    2007-09-06 19:44:12.0

Why not let each player choose when they accept the invitation? Why not make the files "transparent" pngs? Apply a flat level of color under the lines/shines.

Either that or generate modified images at the beginning of each game, and discard afterwards.  Should be trivial.
