With the current tournament almost over... what have been people's thoughts on it?
I'm working to setup another large tournament, also with prizes involved, and I'd like to incorporate some of the feedback from the current tournament.
I am pretty pleased with the way the current tournament progressed. It actually went a lot quicker than I was expecting, and probably would have gone even more quickly if not for the stalemates on the One on One map.
There were a minimal number of disputes, and those that did arise were handled civilly.
I think map selection could be improved.
Any thoughts? sound off...
Who won?
I know there was a debate about this before the tournament started, but I think Bog may be a pretty good map to use instead of 1-on-1 or city sprawl.
Overall a great idea! Thanks for you efforts on the original tournament & your new site.
I think the bog is debatable, but placing it in another tournament will shed more light. Other then that Pluto's assessment of map selection is correct.
Use plainly six as a 1v1 map
Having not participated myself I can say that I found the whole tournament very exciting. I've been watching games, followed some players and it was great fun! I applaud the way this was set up and carried out. Your new tournament site will make the next one even better!
who won?
it looks like no one, yet: tournament
ahh, almost over
I misread it as "with the current tournament over"... curse my skim reading!
I think the tournament is fun to take part in. Regarding the map selection I would like to add the following to what Pluto said:
In my opinion a fixed map allocation (given by the tournament creator or comitee) is not as good as a dynamic selection, which means that the map selection is handled so that one player chooses the map and the other player chooses the color. This might be especially interested when a map editor comes up.
Playing a few maps very often (including training games) can make someone loose interest in some maps.
Therefore I think it is very important that the map allocation is changed!
Also it might be interesting to allow only certain amount of units (e.g. limit the number artillery or light infantry which each player is allowed to build)
