So here I am, months into this whole weewar situation, and i'm still trying to figure out what the funkenstein is going on with the point system. When I lose I'm docked 20+ points on the smallest of boards, and when I win, I get peanuts. (10- points per win). What's the dealio?
Now, i'm not saying that it's going to make a difference one way or another, because i've reach an addiction of crack-like proportions, but I would like to know why i keep getting robbed and how I can stop it.
Any advice that you, the weewar masses, may have would be greatly appreciated, and would probably stop me from yelling at my computer, (whose feeling are starting to get hurt...)
Thanks,
Alupa
PS. I'd like to go on record in saying that the grease monkey programmers who are working on extra goodness for this little obsession of mine should be given something extra. Like cookies, or beer, or your best friends sister. You know, something worthwhile...
Word.
LOL!!
That's gotta be the funniest thing I've read all week!
And yet, I can relate...
Points are awarded based on player score differences. If you beat a player whose score is much higher than yours you gain about 20 points and he loses 20 points. I'm guessing you've been playing mostly people who are much lower score than you.
also, surrendering takes away less points than all out losing.
What? surrendering is better than loosing? makes no sense.
But thats a big IN YOUR FACE to all those that just wont give up even when the situation is hpeless![]()
Point system is based on ELO rating system used in chess tournaments. Go read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system.
Tips![]()
1. gain a lot of points by beating people with more points then you. The bigger the difference the more you get.
2. lose to people who have more points then you, and you lose a little.
3. Multiplayer - make sure the one with the least amount of points gets eliminated on the board first, unless thats you. Points are split in multiplayer games with the most going to the one with the least even if your the one doing all the work.
sorry, surrendering takes away more points than all out losing. ![]()
this surrendering taking away more points than losing is new to me. I've not seen that documented anywhere, and it doesn't really make sense to me why there should be a penalty for surrendering.
dangit... he made me think i had it wrong
surrendering does take away less points than all out losing.
that's still news to me... I don't get it
I don't think you're correct there, I'm pretty sure they take away the same amount.
Thanks for clearing that up, er something. I'm currently doing research on the ELO rating system, which hopefully will make this all the better.
At the very least i'll have to start playing the top 50 players in hopes of a major coup in the game to up my point total. Although, there's something satisfying about beating noobs in 5 turns on small maps...you know, in kind of a sadistically satisfying way.
Could I have a reference to where it sais surrendering and losing are different?
Or could a Dev. comment on this?
The points are always calculated in the same way. And they are are taken / given after the third round only.
