Yet a couple more ideas I'm tossing against the wall:
In the new game interface I think it would be nice if the invitees
boxes had dropdown menus that were automatically populated with
everyone in your preferred players list.
A new unit idea that is most likely unPC but I think could be an
intriguing addition: Suicide Bomber. I picture the unit have movement
equal to that of a raider. Attack range only 1. Zero defense. But on
an attack totally wipes out whatever unit it hits and of course
destroys itself in the process.
If attacked by another unit same thing - both units destroyed, unless
attack by a ranged unit, in which case the suicide bomber just
vanishes harmlessly. Cost-wise I was thinking something around 350ish.
I like the drop down idea. I get tired of typing the same names over and over again.
I also like the suicide Bomber. A LOT actually. This could be the answer to the Battleship inbalance issue that we have right now. 1500 or 1600 would be a good price to pay, but movement speed must by bigger than a BBs attackrange.
Oh, one thing about the suicide bomber unit I forgot to mention was that I was thinking it would also ignore ZoC.
Suicide bomber is cool, it would need to have a movement of 4 if its a ground unit. The battleship problem can be solve by giving subs a range attack of 1-2 or 1-3.
don't you mean homicide bomber? ![]()
it's a good idea. I also think kamikaze jets would be cool too. they would have almost zero armor and extra range but would be able to seriously mess up a battleship
No homicide bombers, please! The last thing we need is one more unit to waste artillery on. If you had homicide bombers in the game, the only way to fight them would be at a distance. Blech.
What about a bomber and to counter it we add the sniper? I would love a sniper unit and it's been discussed here plenty before.
They would be overpowered. You could throw two at a DFA to obliterate it.
well, when talking about suicide bomber, I always assumed a plane. Kamakazi indeed. how else would it reach a BB.
And the issue is not how to balance out this new unit if it would be introduced, but rather introducing this unit to balance out the unbalance that does already exist at the moment: BB superiority. I am no fan of reducing BB usefullness, but lets face it, there is no unit that can beat them. I still think subs are useless. Increasing their range to 1-3 however is an idea I can get on board with.
You could throw 2 at a DFA to obliterate it? I was more thinking throwing one at it would be enough, so how is that bad? Adds to the strategy, in fact, might give some motivation to build Anti Air. Its not like its very expencive...
I haven't played a whole lot of games using the BB, but it is indeed a monster. I'm for either of Streen's suggestions - although I prefer increasing the attack range of the sub.
Wouldn't it be cool if there was like a catapult unit to actually throw DFA's at something? Ha, just picturing that. Or some Terminator like unit with superhuman strength that could throw them.....
Anti-Air has been pretty useless. Its cheaper to spam h.troopers, and one Anti-air that acts like an Artillery unit. A kamikaze unit wold be cool, but making it an airplane is too specialized, especially if it costs a lot. The way weewar attacks work, one hit by any unit will reduce its ability, and probably never reach its intended target.
Indeed, it's better to heed all the cries for unit balancing and get to balancing the existing units, especially the naval and aerial units.
Hello Pistos, I haven't seen you on the forums lately. Welcome back![]()
Right, I left [again] for a month or so. Then I saw either an RSS feed entry or a Twitter about the latest test run going on, so I thought I'd check it out. Then I ran into Pluto on the test server's chat, and he encouraged me to pop my head in here again. So I did.
Thanks for the welcome back.
It does look like weewar is moving forward. Many crucial issues remain outstanding though. I hope they don't get ignored for too long.
I'm thinking that it would be super sweet to have "WHIRLPOOLS" added to the map making testing ground for water based maps. You can land on them, but they take away points, or increase the hit number (decrease the defense number) in a similar way that sand does, but with water. How hot would that be?
OR EVEN BETTER...
You could make a Kthulu square that has a monster on it. Hot. Hot. Hot.
Any thoughts?
not really....
Hm, I'm not really keen on terrain that actually alters dynamic unit attributes... Sorry. ![]()
hovercraft would not be allowed on whirlpool hex. but all other water units. any other hex ideas that would allow some of the water units but not the hovercraft on them?
a while back when we had the map editor before and i was originally creating the earth map we also had the idea of tundra and ice/snow hexes.
