Hi everyone, I have a quick question.

If you're playing a game and you realise you're going to lose, is it better to resign as soon as you realise this, or to fight it out to the end? Do you lose less points for early resignation? Does your performance over the rest of the game towards defeat count in your favour when it comes to calculating your new score?

    Thanks

I don't think it influences the scoring, though I may be wrong on that (not speaking from experience or experiment here). I normally let the other person decide - I kinda like fighting it all the way out to the end (or at least the point where they've essentially wiped me off the map, instead of just when they've clearly started the ball rolling towards the inevitable) but if they'd prefer a quick conclusion to free up some space in the HQ then I'll surrender.

I have read somewhere, a post by luckymustard i think, that there is a difference in points win/loss between surrendering and loosing, but Ive read no comments from the devs about this. I think the points loss is the same. It works after the same system that chess uses, and in chess, you don't get a penalty for dropping the king

I think it's the same, but bear in mind that the scoring is a function of your scores at the time of loss, and each of your scores could be different when you go all the way compared with if you surenedered early.

Look at this game: http://battleground2.weewar.com/game/61839. The winner gained 20 points, whereas the points where 1576 and 1672, just a 100 difference. The reason probably is that the game went to round 58? In never gained or lost 20 points!

I have lost 27 once. I was beat by a  noob  Cry

I dont think the number of rounds should be of any concequence. If you loose, you loose. who cares how long it took you to do it. Otherwise playing aruba wouldn't give you many points;)

The number of rounds does not affect scoring. The only thing that determines your gain or loss is your and your opponent's score at the time.
