This feature was very famous in the game 'Age of Empires' where players could save their games in a specific format (eg .mgx in AOE) and later see them whenever they wanted. In college, we used to see the recorded games of famous players from worldwide and refine our own strategies accordingly.
It was also a great boon for newbies who wanted to learn/discuss strategies ... or simply watch the reply if he/she himself/herself had participitated in it !

Is there someway we could do the same in weewar and save the game forever, since the no. of good-games one usually plays is a little too much for the capacity of 'archived games' ?

The WWPA can archive replays.  BUT -- not all replays work on the live server anyway, and so these can't be archived anyway.  Raise a ruckus and get the devs to fix the replays!
