I'd like to start a thread that has us sharing everything from rough cuts to final scenes. Here are two trailers that we cut for HT.
Trailer #2
Trailer #1
Cool, great vids.
When is the full one due?
HEAD TRAUMA just came out on VOD via Warner Bros at the end of Oct. It is available via a number online outlets, gaming consoles like Xbox and can found in certain cable and satellite outlets. It also can be found nationwide on DVD.
Any idea if it's available in Australia?
hopefully mid 08. I can't wait for movies to be available worldwide at the same time in all formats.
Oh cool. I look forward to it!
I"ve been folowing workbookproject for a while and just wanna thank you. Its been an excellent resource while developing the marketing plan for my new movie U People [The Extraordinary Lives of America's Misunderstod].
The documentary is about what happened behind the scenes of a music video shoot in Brooklyn that was made up of an entire cast and crew of women of color both gay and straight. It comprised of all the candid and very raw Broll from the shoot.
We realized after editing that the story of the brownstone is really a universal story that almost everyone can relate to as far as being a complex person that is often alienated because of stereotypes. Whether it is over race, gender, beliefs, height, size or what have you everyone has experienced being a U People. SO we took this idea and ran with it.
We hit the streets and asked people to tell their U People stories, also asking people to upload their stories, with the hypothetical hope that when you strung together these stories may look different but will feel the same. The podcast has been syndicated on Afterellen.com (the largest lesbian site online) and is a roaring success.
But I've been brainstorming ideas of how to travel with the film in an interactive format. The U People Experience (which includes the stories and the film) will travel more like an exhibition which we hope will get us into some non traditional venues. But there is still an element I want to build on regarding interactivity and was hoping to mill around some ideas here.
Again thank you for your site and I look forward to further discussion.
Here is the first podcast from U People. I think what people love about it is that it is very New York and is based around a couple and their journey. Especially a nontraditional couple like my partner and I. But the U People Story experiences have really moved folks in a myriad of ways.

Uhm, I don't think this video link is working. Or least not for me?
Tangler and Blip don't play nice, but I tweaked it and there it is!![]()
Thanks dekrazee for fixing the blip code. For future reference how did you fix it?
Souloperator congrats on U People and thanks so much for reading the Workbook. As you know I'm a huge fan of the interactive format. U People seems like it would be very well positioned for that type of approach. I think looking to the core of the story and characters may hold some of the answers in terms of interactivity. Identifying your audience like you have is the first step. As you have more detailed ideas or thoughts please post them or feel free to drop me an email at work [@] workbookproject.com
Thanks,
Lance
Hey workbook, I left a message for you in our private conversation.
Hey Lance.
I am really a fan of your intentions behind the WBP. As a music artist and filmmaker I've always work towards collaboration and self-sufficientcy among artists; not always an easy sell. When there was no such thing as MP3s and music downloads were 30mbs I still encouraged my musician comrades to get online and that it was the future. Sounds like a cliche, but hey the rest is history. Anyway, I'm a New YOrker, born and raised and by nature have little time for the semi-artist or non-working artist. Deraming is wonderful, but dreams are in black and white. The working artist actually color their dreams in.
But anyway, this forum is for the exchange of ideas. Like I mentioned we have our weekly podcast which is growing quickly in popularity but as we begin to organize a 2008 college tour , in conjunction with the screening and talkback, we will also engage the student body to offer up their U People Stories. Essentially produce podcasts along the tour and gaining fans along the way. Any college outside of New YOrk and California will be in places where myself and my partner may seem out of sorts. So it should make for a wonderful clash in culture. And also college can be a very alienating place yet so many people find their true selves there also, so I'm hoping that that will be made apparent when we go on the tour.
We are working on a promotional campaign involving the soundtrack and hope to initiate during the tour, but once we've worked the initial nut and bolts out, I will share. I think it may be something WBP will want to share with fellow filmmakers.
BLessings,
Hanifah
PS: The blog template you use for WBP is just the minimalist template I've been looking forever for. I am so using it for a new music site of mine that's been in developement
dekrazze how do I access private conversations?
Hanifah,
Sounds like some great ideas. When it comes to the bookings at schools are you handling them on your own? I've booked them on my own and also worked with bookers. They tend to be very long lead times and it really helps to go cross school, meaning if you're screening, performance, and/or talk can work for multiple departments or schools within the University, it increases the chances the of a booking and also increases the fee.
As you move forward with the project please keep us posted. The workbook is always looking for people to contribute their stories - the sharing of information can be a wonderful and powerful thing. I too am a fan of sustainability, it's one of the underlying missions of WBP.
I love wordpress! And Grid Focus by Derek Punsalan is an amazing theme.
workbook, click on the Recent Activity menu and when it drop down, you should see my name. Click on that and it'll take you to it
