  • dumping old Razr phone book into iPhone

well, I just got a new laptop too so I'm struggling with Vista too ... Now my 2003 version of Office is a no go too. Any alternatives applications with which I can sync as you call it?

Plopping down hundreds to just do that now seems a bit much

    Thanks

    Bear:)

  • Greetings, proud new owner

It's funny but I've actually anticipated this question and find myself with mixed feelings. ... I used to pride myself at being able to work with the Mac beautifully ... I was really in the intuitive groove back then ... but slowly as I had to switch to PC's I think I've lost the feel a bit.

So ... with my first return to the Apple world here since the SE I've found that I'm not only having to conceptualize and learn several generations further .. but have to get back into the intuitive groove again too. It's something that has been practically useless in the PC world most of the time it seems. So its partially me and partially the increasingly complex nature of the functions being dealt with. I tell you one thing though .. I spent several hours comparing phones like the Dual and Tilt to the iPhone and there is no comparison. It's a bit like the difference between the button and switch cockpit of the F-4 Phantom II and the all glass cockpit and heads up display of the F-15 Eagle. There is little question the touch screen of the iPhone will be the wave of the future. The clarity of the screen and the unique button and control configurations in each mode make dozens of multifunction buttons unnecessary and outdated. I can also actually use the phone without my glasses (not something I could say about the other phones). That's a big plus in my book. One of my somewhat unexpected challenges has been how to hold the iPhone in a secure way and not accidentally touching suddenly appearing or changing button configurations (and my hands are rather small for my 6'2" frame.) I never have been so challenged with how to hold a device as much as this. It's literally another dimension to be added to the learning curve. The slickness, shape and apparently delicate glass and metal frame of the phone only make the secure handling of the device that much more critical and even vexing at times.

That's my position so far. I'll be glad to give an update in a couple of weeks or so.

    Thanks again:)

  • simplest way to tether my iPhone?

Thanks for those ....  obviously regular iPod solutions  translate rather favorably to the iPhone. Unfortunately this kind of thing is hard to shop for with photographic images like this. I was actually contemplating using very strong thread or multifiliment line to create a kind of custom string (bound package type of cris cross web) around the iPhone that would not only allow it to be tethered but would afford it a modicum of protection itself too. It would also allow the phone to be dropped into a pocket or such in a more secure fashion. I see the slick nature of the device to have its disadvantages. Thanks again ... I'll look further.
