Interpretation and misrepresentation.
That's the problem with the bible... and many other religious writings.
Stuff like the 'eye of a needle' being a gate in Jerusalem. What would be the point of Jesus saying it's easier for a camel to pass through a gate than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God? Makes no sense, yet people like to interpret it that way, so they can feel better about having a nice car, parked outside a lovely house, filled with expensive possessions... while little children starve to death and die of easily curable ailments.
The Bible should be about comfort and guidance, but it's more commonly used as a justification. A tool to judge, oppress and divide.
