  Can you recieve online counseling for depression

  I though that you were talking about my responses to people and they are not cookie cutter.  I would only hope that people that post are doing so because they need help.  Thats the best I can do right now.

  Are there situations where online psychologists are not appropriate?

  I think this depends on the type of online counseling and if you believe there is a difference between face to face or online counseling.  If your counselor can give you the same respect and privacy online than why not.  The way to know if a site is secure is by noticing an "s" after http.  If the site is secure meaning 128 bit encypted, then it is better than if a therapist is just using an unsecure chat.

  How should privacy, confidentiality be handled?

  I actually do online counseling and privacy is the #1 concern.  Whether you are in an office with a therapist or in your own house, it is important always to remember about your surroundings as well as the site's privacy.
