Australian culture is definitely a part of this western worlds lives. You read our books, watch our t.v. shows, you watch our movies, you look at our art, we compete well at sport and have a good chance of beating you,

If you think the world is out there clamouring for our books, t.v. shows and movies, I'm betting you haven't seen too much of the world outside of Australia beyond perhaps a week or two in Bali or an after school "break in Europe"?  Spend a decade or two living overseas and you'll get a much more realistic view of the way the world sees us . You may also like to check your local library and note that most other places in the "Empire" which have not "done so well" actually had their own cultures to begin with  - and unlike our indigenous culture, they'd all discovered the wheel too!Laughing

At least that's what they taught us at school.

Australian culture simply does not rate in most other countries. Go check for yourself - there's a big world out there waiting to tell you that Waltzing Matilda was an Irish folk song and "Oggy Oggy Oggy , OI OI OI" was a UK miner's chant. Men At work and the song the Land down Under? - created by a scotsman - it goes on.Surprised

Once you see an interview with an Australian on an overseas, English speaking  t.v station where they actually subtitle the Australian speakers in English for the benefit of English speaking viewers...... gives you some perspective. What you will never learn in Australia is how the world see us from the outside.

  • Is this art...or...

I don't think its in the best interests of that family to post that picture of them there!! I note there is an even younger child now and we all know how that happened !!!!! See I can be open minded too!

  • R.I.P. George Carlin-unless you're laughing too hard

Thanks. From memory , his favourite joke told in the outtakes section was "The Dirty Doctor" like all the other jokes in that documentary, it was well beyond funny.
