  As for Runes, is it possible for characters, specifically hardcore mages, to have received Runes outside of/prior to Eastridge like Wisteria?

  Yeah, I agree Fell didn't really know Wisteria, but I was hoping that there was, to an extent, some socializing going on offscreen, maybe during the healing class, considering a whole semester passed, although that's probably wishful thinking on my part. More of Fell interacting with the others would give me a clearer picture on where he stands. I don't know if I can say he really appreciated Dove. It felt more like, "Oh thank god it's not a guy but a smokin hot babe instead."

  As far as the second book goes, it's interesting to see the shoe on the other foot now. Javen and his buddies seem like the bullies this time to the first years with their hazing. I can see Fell's moral dilemma in whether or not to follow their actions or not, but on the other hand I was dissappointed with how he seemed like a hypocrite or chauvinist with the way he treated Ella. I can understand to an extent him not wanting to hit girls, but it almost seems like he's trying to make her drop out, arriving at the same assumptions as his friends, that a girl can't make it. This kinda irritates me because Fell was in a similar position last year/semester, and he had even less training than Ella.

  Questions and Comments

  Just a few questions, what was up with Averi's Undead Rune near the end there? I mean did she even know how to use it, or was she just hoping it would do something? I was a little confused on Rakam cutting through the Rune, what did that do and wouldn't he have seen it? Why did he cut it?

  I'm horrible at keeping track, but has Fell used magic yet? I seem to recall him being a mage minor, although that may no longer be the case since some changed like Averi from warrior to thief.
