Official Introduce Yourself Thread: What's Your Fave? ** THREAD CLOSED - READ ONLY**
Name: Holli
Where ya from?: Portland, OR
DOB (decade or century not included if you wish
): January 7th, 1981
How'd you come by this forum?: Google..I was searching for discussions of Eric vs Bill, lol!
Have you read the books? If so, how many of them?: All of them, multiple times. Can't wait for 9!
Have you seen the show?: Yes, although I'm slowly working my way through them on DVR. Only at about episode 5 so far.
What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...): Oh, probably vampire...although I am a Sam fan and would love to learn more about the shifters!
If you had a theme song - what would it be?: Lover, You Should Have Come Over by Jeff Buckley. Hands down.
If you had a theme movie - what would it be?: Most definitely it would be Labyrinth. This movie warped my mind at a young age and fantasy hasn't loosened its grip since!
What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?: Actually, I might have to go with Lizzie from P&P here...
If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be & why?: Probably, a pomegranate - sweet and bitter, takes work to enjoy the rewards. I tend to be a bit of an introvert, so this fruit seems a good symbol.

Other Book Recommendations.**THREAD CLOSED-READ ONLY**
Hi Ladies, I've been lurking around your forum for awhile and finally decided to sign up. I have some recommendations for book series if you would like to stick with fantasy/urban/supernatural genres. First would be the Hollows Series by Kim Harrison - in these the 'supes' have all come out into the open after a virus wipes out a large number of the human population, equalizing their numbers with those of the supes. Her main character Rachel Morgan is a witch who works for the supe version of the FBI with a vampire partner. Great characterizations, humor, very much like the Sookie series. The Hollows Series
Another great series is the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Set in Washington state, about a woman who is a 'walker', a Native American who can shift into a coyote and gets drawn into the local supernatural politics against her will. Great humor, wit, and a main character who also happens to be a Volkswagon mechanic. Should not be missed. The Mercy Thompson Series
If you are looking for a single book, something you can enjoy without committing to a series, I would recommend trying out War For The Oaks, by Emma Bull. Although its older, it definitely broke ground in the urban fantasy genre. A down-on-her-luck musician runs into a phouka and gets drawn into the world of Faerie, and the ancient war between the Seelie and Unseelie courts. War for the Oaks
And if you'd like to try some urban fantasy with a male protagonist try Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Set in Britain, a man stumbles across a bleeding woman in the street and discovers a whole different London beneath the subway systems. This is definitely The Wizard of Oz for grownups. Neverwhere
