  • What are you reading?

If finished The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton before New Year's.  A fun read.

  • New & Slightly Scared - Looking for Advice

I have to agree with Cathy.  My work has come so far and it's due to all the people I've worked with at Grub.  Most of the students I've met have day jobs and want to write, so you'll be surrounded by people who understand the challenges of balancing both.

  • Novel Revisions

For my second draft, I printed out a hard copy for myself and my wife and that worked really well for revising.  It made it easier to flip around and find/fix gaps in the plot and identify discontinuities.  For draft 3, I plan on reading it out loud as well.

  • Virtual Workshopping Group

I'm finishing my fourth Grub Street class soon and am working through the third draft of a fiction novel (modern day supernatural-ish).  I'd like to participate in a novel workshopping group that meets virtually via Megameeting (http://www.megameeting.com for more information).  Through work I have access to the software and it doesn't cost anything for others to log on, but it requires people who are comfortable with that kind of group.  It's ideal for people who don't want to, or can't, travel much.  I'm posting here to gauge interest in the idea.

  • What book(s) are you reading right now?

I just finished Isaac Asimov's The Foundation, but haven't decided what to read next.  I'm working my way through Andre Dubus's Selected Stories and a depressing history of eugenics, War Against the Weak.
