Myself and several others are planning to go to Chad and Darfur in the summer of 2010. We'll visit several Chadian refugee camps to deliver medical aid etc, then proceed to Darfur and film/photograph whatever we find.
We'll be flying to Chad via France then driving across the border into Darfur.
We've found the necessary paperwork and vaccinations. We just have to get it.
A local hospital has offered $250,000 worth of medical supplies when the time comes.
A local library has offered $2,000.
We've decided to wear concealed body armor.
The UN may be willing to extract us in case of emergency.
We'll be streaming all media to a laptop back home because the last folks caught photographing had everything confiscated.
We're going to attach a camera to a small remote controlled airplane to use for recon before entering a village and surveillance while
we're there.
As of now we're not sure if we'll be armed or unarmed while in Darfur. I'd rather go down fighting if it comes to that but whatever we have would have to be concealed and what concealable armament is there that will do much good against ak's?
Obviously we're short on funds. We've contacted several organizations but none of them seem very cooperative.
Advice would be appreciated, especially from those with experience in the area.
