^^ Absolutely. What I think the point most of us are trying to make is that there is no point doing browser testing in 15 different obscure browsers. IE(6/7), FF, Safari and Opera will get you 99.7% of people hitting your site. Unless there are some requirements for specific browser compliance, I would not even consider testing in anything else - all it does is drag the the project out.
I'm in web design/development to make a living - to do that I can't spend hours testing in browsers to cater to 0.3% of web users that want to be a bit different. Chances are if they are having troubles with your site, then they would be having trouble in a lot of sites out there.

Web 2.0 Technologies of Choice
@shib71 - "Just a slight correction - ColdFusion was ported to Java.". In regards to MySpace, it was originally written in ColdFusion, and was ported to .Net:

As for AJAX frameworks. A lot of them almost entirely depend on what server side technologies you are using. JSON (to my knowledge) is not a AJAX framework but a set of technologies used for plumbing data around between different services.
In the .Net camp there are a number of AJAX frameworks - the biggest of which is obviously the MS Ajax .Net - or whatever it is called now (formally called 'Atlas'). One gripe I do have with it is that is it somewhat bloated (sometimes typical of MS). I've also used 'Anthem' previously which is also quite good.

@Standard Society
I don't have IE6 installed, but I know that having the XML prologue will force IE6 into quirks mode. I'm not sure if you are having IE6 issues at all - but something to think about if you are. Omiting the prologue is still valid as well.
I think the site is pretty cool, if you're after someone to critic things however ..
A few interface gripes: ![]()
I'm not terribly fond of the persisting top banner and footer. A site such of yours where the primary use is to read text (from a blog) having those two there immediatly chew up a lot of space and force more scrolling then.. IMO.. there needs to be.
To post a comment you must scroll all the way to the top, where as people normally want to a.) reply to the article [therefor are at the bottom of the article] or b.) reply to someone else's comment [therefor at the bottom of the document]
The flickerized bits and amazon bits, I would move to the side bar, pull the adwords from there, and put under the article... Or possibly move them to a seperate section? (not sure if the amazon bits are part of ur revenue model however)
Quicknotes and news, and search should go up the top where comments currently are.. add comments should get moved to the bottom of the existing comments (and add a link to jump there under the article)
Umm and that's about it for now? Just my 2c anyway so feel free to discard all the above..

Looking for a link: "Cool Ajax samples"
"Lightbox is a great script for use in picture galleries, it's Ajax even if it isn't that complex." Lightbox is not 'AJAX' at all.. There is a modified version (Leightbox?) that allows you to load html content in rather then images.
If you are ofter that sort of effect however, I would recommend Slimbox, that runs on top of Mootools. Combined it's something like 16kb, vs ~100kb for Prototype + Scriptaculous + Lightbox. Which IMO, make Lightbox unusable.
