  • Unusual chairs

It's corrugated cardboard. The man presenting it is the chinese designer that came up with it when he saw the material that a factory near him was making.

  • Looking for a link: "Cool Ajax samples"

Apparently there's lots of different versions of the same idea, each with differing qualities.

  • Linking to Copyrighted Content Illegal

I give the child-porn example because police have been using Google to find people distributing and making the sick stuff.

  • Why not a Godless Church of Morality?

Well, to answer in my opinion why there isn't one currently. Because it probably wouldn't beget a lot of members. The reason many people put their faith in religion is because it has answers, whether they are correct or not doesn't matter. It's got them, and many people take them as true because it's comforting.

The "religion" you describing is exactly the situation that these people flock to religion to escape from. The world is frightening, confusing and altogether unpleasant. Without a preset moral structure like those provided by religions you have to figure that out  on your own, or in this case, in a group, which isn't what these people want.

I realizing I'm making out followers of religions to be these people looking for the easy way out, and that's not completely true. There are tons of different reasons why people chose to believe in a religion. I'm just trying to point out the difference between a religion and this "Godless Church or Morality", and possible reasons it isn't around.

  • Why do atheists care about religion?

Alright then, to some degree I agree with your statement and there are many possible solutions to the problem. Regardless, mostly what I was trying to say by bringing up Platos republic is that I'd rather we started ellecting smart people instead of well connected ones, that way we'd at least have a smart corrupt government.

  • How you lost your faith?

I'd try and be a devils advocate and play the side of pro-religion, but I find I'm not very good at it. So instead I'd like to know how you lost your faith in a religion if you've lost it, and if you haven't, why you believe.

  • LOTRs Online Beta

I believe it will be soon. If not access to closed beta isn't hard to get granted, it seemed to me that they were accepting many of those that signed up.

  • MMORPG!

Darkfall sounds good, though it has been in development for a while, six years is how long they worked on vanguard, and even then they've only released it now because they were running out of money.

Frankly, I've played a lot of MMOs and they all have a hard time keeping you for the end game. Either they keep rasing then cap, or they just add new content. I got bored after playing Asheron's Call for six years (it was a first generation MMO, along with Ultima Online and Everquest). The ones I did like best were those that were unique, like Eve which is great but takes a lot of time, and those that are FPS like Planetside. I know a few more FPS MMOs are coming out like Huxley and Tabla Rosa, but both of those aren't purely based on personal skill and will still contain RPG elements (i.e. a higher level will have an advantage over a lower level), where are planetside was unique in that a new characters killing potential was just as great as a higher level. The only difference was that a higher level could diversify their equipment (guns, vehicles).

Now I'm just waiting for Project Offset, it's the only game close to an MMO that I'm looking forward to.

  • Does being religious make you a bad person?

Alright, if you don't mind me interrupting here's how I see it.

Religion has been the cause of the xenophobia (fear of the unknow or different) that started many conflicts. Ultimately without religion people are still scared of the unknown and conflicts between groups of people still would have occured whether or not religion even came into being.

But now that the world is globalizing and the groups are merging, there's less chances of xenophobic conflicts between people. The problem is that Religion is dividing us up into different groups. And though faith in god isn't the problem with religions it's their intolerance of those that either aren't of them. Though some are more harsh than others, this is still a breeding ground for xenophobic conflicts. Thus you end up with people divided when they could easliy come together as humans.

That's the main problem with them.

The other is that they are encroaching into the world of politics and in a secular country like the United Statues this becomes a problem because it's not a secular state when laws based on religious beliefs are being passed, and religious views of the world are being taught in public schools.

  • PS3 Stumbles

The problem with the PS3 is three fold, the lack of a big name launch title, the difficulty to develop games for it, and the price of the system itself. No launch title meant less of a reason to buy the console. If it's hard to develop games for your system then developers are less inclinded to develop them and with less systems being sold they are also less likely to see a profit from games they develop for your system. And finally with a high price point that is undercut by both your competitors you'll have difficulty selling your system at all.

Most of the PS3s being sold are either selling to people that are hardcore fans of Sony Consoles, or are using them to play BlueRay Movies.

Sony has basically dug the PS3 it's own grave.
