Thanks for all the rec's!  I have had the opportunity to read several series over the last couple months (lucky me!) and thought I would add my two cents.

Fever Series:  Love, love, love, maybe even more than Sookie.  Cannot wait for the 5th and final book!

Night Huntress:  Again, Love it.  Cat and Bones have such great chemistry.

Hunger Games:  I thought it was just...ok.

Chicagoland Vampires:  Again, just sort of meh for me.  I feel like the series has potential, but it is just so predictable.  I mean seriously, every single man that looks Merit's way is just so instantly smitten with her and she can't understand why and do they really like her for her or are they just after her family connections and money...blah blah blah.  And I feel like the author completely ripped off CH with the male lead.  Seriously, he's a decades old powerful vampire who is smitten with the female lead but must think about the members of his House and keeping them safe.  And by the way, he's Swedish, tall, blonde, and was turned when he was a soldier, and his name is Ethan (soo similar to Eric!!)  It sort of reads like a bad Eric/Sookie fanfic IMO.

I just started a new series, Jolie Wilkins by HP Mallory.  The first book is Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble.  It and the 2nd book Toild and Trouble have very high reviews on Amazon so I bought them on a whim.  So far, so good.  I'm only about 66% in to the first one.  It has witches, weres, vamps, demons...pretty much a smorgasbord of PNR characters.  Anyone else read it?

great as an episode (best of this season IMO) but lacked the "wow" factor of a season finale.

AP I almost let myself think that too.  Like obviously she won't just stay put somewhere safe, so he locks her up for her own good or something.

I might be in the minority here, but I liked this episode much better than last week.  Yes, the S/B stuff was complete f*ckery, and the shower scene was a big F U to all the ELs and book fans.  But isn't that really expected at this point in time?

    SPOILER!!!!!

Is it wrong og me to just TB S/B would ride off into the sunset together and leave everyone else alone?  I enjoyed all the secondary characters so much more and can honestly do without the whole S/B relationship story all together.  Why did he travel to Faery?  So I guess now Claudine is convinced he is a good guy?  Are they really going to make it seem like he did not know what Sookie was right from the start?  "I swear to you I will not hurt her."  Uh huh.  Sure.  I'm really convinced.  The shower scene was completely gratuitous and served no purpose in the plot AT ALL.

That being said... The Eric and Pam scenes were the best.  You can tell there is complete love and trust between them.  Nan is a cold hard bitch and I really kinda love her.  RE went completely batshit and I thought it was fabulous.  How is Eric gonna get out of this mess?

Tara stood up to Franklin, so at least there is one female who wasn't a whimpering mess.  Of course Jason (a man) had to eventually come in and save the day.  What in the world got into Sam?  He nearly killed Calvin.  I thought that was really out of character.  Hadley is way more attractive and interesting to watch than Soooookeh.  I would rather have watched more of her story line with Hunter and less of the Beeeyul walking on water.

Overall though, I think this is one of the better episodes of the season, simply for the fact that it had a lot more Eric/Pam time and RE killed it.

  • Fanfic: Not of the trueby/sookie nature.

The amount of FanFic I read is embarassing.  I really love non-cannon Twilight stuff.  You guys are right.  There are some insanley talented writers out there.

If non-cannon is acceptable to you, try out:
    Slow and Steady by LillyoftheValley77
A Lesson in Release by Lillie Cullen
    Insecurities by JamesRamsey
    Sasafrass Junction by VampishVixen
    Colliding Meteors by IdreamofEddy
These are all Jasper/Bella Vamp/Human AU

Be My Biggest Fan by Crash Hale
A Murmur of Fire in the Vein by ElleCC
    Finding Forgiveness by TwistedforTwilight
    These are Jasper/Bella AH/AU

I love the idea of Jasper as a leading man.  He was my favorite character in Twilight and didn't get nearly enough recognition (IMO).  If you read these, I guarantee you will fall in love with him and never look at Edward the same again.

However, if you are an Edward lover, I have a few rec's also.  They are AH as I can't really get into vamp Edward/Bella, I like to change it up a bit.

Son of a Preacher Man by LaViePastiche (also very Jasper heavy content)
An Introdiction to Swirl and Daisy by m81170
    Edward Wallbanger by feathersmmmm
For the Summer by camoozle (probably the best E/B AH story out there.  could easily be it's own novel).

All of these are aavailable on FFn.  Now I have embarrassed myself by admitting to how much ff I read.  But trust me, these are really good (and steamy).  I hardly ever read actual books anymore.

  • True Blood: S3, Episode 8 Discussion

I honestly hope they don't put this version of Sookie together with this version of Eric. I just don't see why in the world his character would be attracted to her or any other woman that's come onscreen aside from Pam.

I completely agree.  Obviously, Eric is very stong-mineded and determined.  He's not afraid to go after what he wants, example:  infiltrating REs inner circle and killing Talbot.  Why on God's green earth would he have interest at all in Soookeh?  Good thing his memory gets wiped next season (assuming that actually happens) so he will forget what a whiny, whimpering, screaming mess she's been.

And yes, it is very sad reading what some people write on these other forums.  I understand that not everyone has read the books, and that the show is a different entity entirely.  But still, I think they should pay at least some respect to the original material that so many people fell in love with and the devoted readers who bought all those books, making CH famous and rich and enabling the show to be made in the first place.
