I think he was just a way to fill up books.
Yes, 'cause he is way the heck more interesting than Sam! Talk about being taken for a ride... and not in a good way.

Steph, I was wondering what you'd think of Black Howl... I'm not sure what I think about the ending, either. Most of the way through, it was more of the same... then the kicker(s) at the end. I think I'll read some reviews of the next one before jumping in.

Black Dagger Brotherhood (JR Ward) - *SPOILERS*
I just finished it and although Thor isn't a favorite and I didn't think it was possible to "replace" Wellsie, this one worked for me. I liked that there wasn't so much emphasis on the baby powder guys and the new bad guys have some interesting twisty possibilities. I liked the ending, but yet there does always seem to be a general pattern to them, this one has a little twist.
I guess the next one will focus more on Layla?

Yes, I figured that out when it continued to happen on subsequent days. Can't it be deleted?

In the link you posed, "Dancer" is also mentioned. Maybe the stories of Dani, Ryo, and Christian are interlinked, but not necessarily romantic with each other... brings to mind the BDB series. I have a hard time imagining an author trying to "sell" a relationship between a 14 year old and a much older man.

Book #12: "Deadlocked" - Chapter 2
I've pictured Sookie using the CD to make the world forget that she's a telepath (that could include Hunter). If she applied that retroactively, she would never meet Bill or Eric.
If CH pulls this, I'll wonder why I bothered with the series at all. In spite of all the difficulties in her life, I do believe that Sookie likes "belonging" with a group. All her life she's been the one who is different or on the outside of the group because of her special attributes, but now those attributes are not "strange", but are valued and give her entrance into a very special group.

I wonder if she gets more "royalties" (or whatever that would be called) the longer the series runs? Otherwise, it has served its purpose by bringing more readers to her books, plus whatever she was paid for the rights to the story; so, perhaps she doesn't care if/when it ends?

Other Book Recommendations 2 **READ ONLY DON'T POST**
I just finished the 4th Blood Destiny and I think it's the best so far. No sign of the "issue" you mention in it and, yes, it seems that she would already have "dealt" with it. In this one, we encounter a lot of new characters... it's getting difficult to remember all the names.

E-Reader Device comparisons, compliments, or complaints
Perhaps if a book was downloaded that is not indexing correctly, it could cause the battery to drain more quickly. Try doing a search for a nonsense word (xwrtch). If anything is not indexing it will come up as not yet indexed (otherwise it will say that nothing was found.) Delete it and recharge your battery. This might not be your answer, but it's worth checking. Additionally, if you've loaded a number of new books, it takes extra battery life to index them.
Good luck... I have the original DX and replaced the battery after 2 1/2 years. Possibly, the battery can be replaced on whichever model you have.

"It was patently obvious that the Beast was Barrons so what was the point, other than to bring the readers back."
I wonder about that too... she already had a loyal following so I don't think she needed to resort to gimmicks in order to keep them (us!) coming back, and there was enough tension with the story line to keep it going without a cliffhanger. I'm glad I got started on the series later on so it didn't affect me.
