  • Introduction to Scouta

    What is Scouta?

Scouta is the new way to get relevant online content. It’s the bold new way for you to get personal recommendations to suit your interests and tastes.

These online recommendations come from Scouta learning what you like,
and from you--and people like you--sharing the best of what you find
online. Scouta will offer you new online audio and video you can pick
from and rate, listening and learning as you go.

    It's free. Join now!

Instead of searching for information, inspiration, laughs, and contacts, Scouta will do the work for you--delivering stuff you might never have found searching for hours on your own.

The more you add or rate, the smarter Scouta gets. And with every new release, and every new member, it just gets smarter.

Every time you interact with Scouta, it works like the best (online) friend you never had. The kind that listens and connects you with others.

As well as getting to know you, Scouta helps you find and get to know people that share the same interests.

But it’s not Scouta that does this really. Like, hello, they are just
computers! It’s the people. Like you. Interacting and sharing with each
other. Reclaiming an Internet that's really gotta be by the people, for the people.

Every time you share Scouta-delivered content with others or encourage them to join, you build connections, karma and kudos
along the way. Connections built on stuff that really matters to you...
Your interests. Your tastes. What you think is cool and interesting.
Others respond by sharing what they care about--and away we go.

People helping each other--learn, live and laugh.

That’s the kind of internet we want to help create.

    What about you?

    Who Works For Scouta?

    Richard Giles

Richard Giles has over 15 years experience in the technology industry.
An Australian web pioneer in the early-nineties, he later worked for
Sun Microsystems for nine years. He has since authored two books, won
awards for podcasts, consulted, and spoken to a variety of
    organizations about the emerging Internet.

    Graeme Sutherland

    Graeme is an Internet systems
engineer and technology strategist who has consulted on and delivered a
range of successful internet and network-based products worldwide in a
range of industries including financial services, logistics, industrial
automation, internet micro-payments and voice services. He currently
works on new web applications via his UK and Australian businesses.

    Libby Davy

Lib's been bringing people together on the net for yonks. After an
early, traditional career as a strategic communications type, she
moved on to start using her talents for more good, not evil. She's
been an awarded online media activist, consultant, writer,
photographer, social entrepreneur and co-founder of several thriving
online happenings. Libby helps out on Scouta's community and
    communications side.

    How Did Scouta Start?

In late 2005, Graeme and Richard were chatting over a beer and pizza in
a great pub/restraunt called Little Creatures in Fremantle, Western
Australia. It was approaching summer, and Fremantle is the type of
place you head to soak up the spring or summer atmosphere. The sea
    breeze always invigorates the mind.

Richard had recently finished writing a book, originally
called the Whole Internet Guide to Podcasting (subsequently cut down to
become the Podcasting Pocket Guide) for O’Reilly, and they were
lamenting the fact that it’s hard to find good quality podcasts that
    were really relevant to “me.”

It’s not that there isn’t a massive amount of content to
choose from, or that everything is crap, it’s just so hard to filter
everything for personal tastes. So, they came up with an idea to create
the 21st Century “television” guide: a guide that recommends relevant
online video and audio for individuals.
