So after a period of silence I'm back again. We've come out of beta, the product is doing well, we're getting a steady flow of signups and have some revenue coming through. Now we're preparing to go international. That means we're targeting English speaking countries at this time ie US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The proposed launch date is 29th January but we know it is tight so we may not make it.
In the meantime, if you'd like to check out how we're doing things then hop over to GetSatisfaction where we do our support and take in development ideas.
We've also created a group in DailyMotion where we'll be uploading videos and talking about how people are using FreeAgent. The group is moderated but feel free to join.

Thanks - we're happy to have gotten the app out the door pretty much on time...well, 10 days late actually...but it is feature complete and attracting a steady stream of users who are getting benefit. The next BIG step is to internationalize . We're starting in Ireland which is a safe place for us to "get our feet wet" and then it's onwards and outwards during 2008.

I am a member of several GGroups, one of which is 40+ strong, the other close to 100. We use them all the time and I am constantly finding great nuggets of useful information. The important point is that we can share information in a safe environment yet still receive instant delivery or take the digest - whichever best suits our working practices.

@dakreeza 1: you're either comfortable with putting your financial data on the web or you're not. But...sooner or later that's where this stuff goes. The cost efficiencies alone should be enough to pique your interest IMO when looked at as a whole business model.
@kasta: this was developed for geeks by geeks but if you have any worries then by all means ask the question. There are some talks about providing a secure privacy wall a la Wasabe but that adds considerable complexity and, we think, puts your data at risk. If you forget your password in a privacy wall situation then you lose data forever. We're not convinced the tradeoff is worth it.

Would you folks mind posting this feedback via the site? The devs keep on top of these things.

@Minhster - a number of Web 2.0 startups are taking the approach of saying something like: 'We support IE7/7 and FF 1.5/2.x' - and that's it. I got some complaints as my site doesn't render nicely in certain browsers. You know what? I don't care. There's just no way to support every browser out there but if you can reach 90-95% that's enough - stats at my place: 58% IE6, 34% FF and then 23 other variants! Much much better than more and more tabs opening in FF.
So the decision is simple - support the majority, make them happy. That way you grow users rather than piss them off.
