  You can use always SU or any other social bookmarketing service if your concern is genuine. While you are a long term user and have a following it doesnt hurt anybody to add one or two links with self interest if it can get you money. But if you add stupid stuff and misleading links these followers will leave you and ban you So there is no need to discuss whether the service misuses their stance. Moreover if the service pushes a stupid link on user, the user is intelligent enough to give negative rank which is more damaging to the extra smart advertisers. I have added a service to SU thinking that it already started its operations as I participated in its beta which didnt fly on the specific date promised by the webmasters. I got reprimands from many people at once that I am misusing the system ( private messages and comments on SU reviews) So any long term user dont take risk of facing those unpleasant situations.

  How useful is StumbleUpon?

  Yes, Gracey, I  have also observed that there is raise in visitors who didnt pay a second visit. Another thing is few understand what we can do with so many social networking services even after so much hype about social networking. Most of the visitors now simply add as freind ( because in SU there is no diffference between favourite, contact and friend) and start sending messages. I have changed privacy settings long back in myspace. Now I had to do samething in SU. Messages without any valid reason. Goodmorning, Hi from unknown people is really annoying. May be all the people are new generation trying to get hands on experience in these sites.
