  • Can Christians Be Converted To Reason?

As an interesting aside related to this, someone has proposed that the repeated failure of the Large Hadron Collider to come online may be the result of a backwards propagating phenomena that self-preserves reality (I.E.; God doesn't like the Higgs-Boson particle and will prevent it from being made/discovered).

  • Does being religious make you a bad person?

Actually, religions aren't bad.  Institutions are bad.  Pretty much universally, most people I've spoken with on the topic of religion have one thing in common; when they say religion they almost always mean some flavor of Christianity.  Rarely do they refer to buddhists, Taoists, Hindi, Wiccan, classical Paganism or other forms of religion.

Even so, point of matter is that most of the knee-jerk anti-religious reactionism has little to do with rational thinking, it has to do with an overall mindset of the pushy Christian Hypocrite.

Christ's message in and of itself (Ignoring John's bigotry and whatnot) was a message of peace, love, and unity.  That's not bad, believer or unbeliever.

It's the idea that there is some spiritual daddy that disapproves specifically of your decisions that tends to grate against people's patience and rationality, and I'd argue no such "God" exists.

  • Google docs in plain english

And this is why businesses should, en masse, start participating with online collaboration tools.  Rather than have  dozens and possibly hundreds of copies of files floating around and serving as potential liabilities to a company, guard one specific gate.  The gate for the collaboration software, and store all documents there including their version histories.  I honestly cannot understand why more businesses have not made the move.

  • The Jesus Myth

It would be prudent to note that there is a documentary, partly dealing with the "New World Order," But having a good deal of historical homework committed to it that discusses the actual Christ that walked the earth.  "Esu", or "Child of Isis."

Isis, of course, being the Virgin Goddess of Egyptian lore.  It's quite a thought provoking documentary, though it is depressing at points.

Here is the first part of it, which leads off with the 9/11 attacks.  After the first five or ten minutes, it begins to expound on historical things.

Here is the second part.  Make what you will of the conspiracy subject matter, but the historical research is very much food for thought on the possibility of a literal Jesus.

  • The Age of Endarkenment

Are you familiar with the documentary "The Elegant Universe"? It has various leading physicists commenting to and for.  It is a bit dated, being a few years old, but at the time there was a large schism between those that thought the theory had promise and those that thought it was untestable tripe and not worth funding.  To this day, I am fairly certain that the schism still exists for those very same reasons.

  • Microsoft Surface

Well, not entirely certain if this has been mentioned as of yet... but about two months ago, Microsoft announced it's top secret project Milan and unveiled it as Microsoft Surface.  The tech is pretty expensive, in the 10,000 dollars range, and uses infrared cameras to track touches.  Rather more complex than Jeffrey Han's multitouch user interface, and perhaps unnecessarily so.  What do you guys think of MS Surface? And for that matter, how fast do you think the manufacturing costs for it will fall? Do you think It will be adopted quickly, or relegated to the "Bad idea" bin of electronics history?

  • Online Bookmarking

I happen to use google bookmarks, as of recently.  It's fairly simple, allows tagging, and with the google bookmark maker in my toolbar it makes it quick and easy.
