We had to wear uniforms and I was glad of it. We were relatively poor and while I didn't necessarily have the newest uniform at least I fitted in. That said, uniforms nowadays can be horribly expensive and might be worse for parents than allowing their children to wear casual wear. If they don't have to pay for uniforms then they can spend more on good quality other clothes.
Re the socks issue, I think it's ridiculous that they get so specific about the uniform. We had some choices in our uniform (different styles and lengths of skirt for example - we could even have a choice of blue or grey skirts). I think some individualism is important too and why not allow it with socks?!?

Loud! I wasn't too impressed with Alice Cooper to be honest. To be fair I don't think the sound system was that good so I could barely here him a lot of the time and while I don't mind not hearing Motorhead properly I'd actually be able to hear Alice Cooper's voice! They were supported by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts too and they were fantastic - definitely going to buy some of their albums now!

I really like it.. I loved that it summed up the future and made me feel happy that he lived happily ever after. I'm a sucker for happy endings (I love movies when they tell you what happened to characters in the end titles).

Okay, I'm struggling with the Welsh now! I pretty much understood your last paragraph but could only pick up bits and pieces of the rest - a translation would be wonderful! My Welsh is very basic but it's getting better!

Another vote for Top Gear here! I guess out of new programmes I'd have to put Heroes in there. I'm also a closet Highlander fan so yeah, Highlander. I also love Casualty. I guess my fifth choice would have to be a Star Trek although I can never decide TNG or DS9. In general if it's sci-fi I love it. I like some comedies and dramas but generally prefer sci-fi - even the rubbish ones!
