Was glad to see Cameron calling for it to be scrapped. About time. But, as Donal Blaney points out:
- It is important, however, that Mr Cameron doesn’t forget that one of his great selling points is that he adopted Ronald Reagan’s sunny vision for the future – his use of the language of optimism is crucial so as to be set against the dour approach of our new Prime Minister.
So in calling for the repeal of the Human Rights Act, brought in by Tony Blair and which so handsomely benefited his charming wife, Cameron must make it clear he has a positive alternative vision of a new British Bill of Rights. In doing so he can avoid being portrayed as a nasty Tory intent on taking away the rights of the citizens.
